Hello Tom and Meghan.
I havn't emailed in
forever...
sorry i never sent the
description of the Longacres in DC party, or Emmys visit. It got kinda busy!
Well emmys visit was fantastic- and we did muchly appreciate that cookie cake
:] (yes, i had enough will power to keep it in my freezer for a whole week!) We
all picked her up from the airport and continued to stay up until like 3 am. Me
and Hannah we're the early risers (at 8 am!) Then the next day Emmy came and
visited bremmy, and we chased her around the ring. Dont worry though, Emmy
still says Quantum (& shabang!) are better. So, thats the super short super
delayed version of all that.
Brems been good lately,
we just had a show yesterday! a TWELVE HOUR long SCHOOLING show. We trailered
leahs horse joker, and bremmy. Kerry trailered her horses Deerbrook and Conner.
I also rode Ernesto's pony Carmela shes been undersaddle for about a little
over a month. Shes the CUTEST thing everrrr. So so sweet. We got second in w/t.
Brem&I entered in Open Hunter, and the Junior/Ammy Medal. I've decided that
controlled schooling rings are NOT the place for bremmy. 5 people trying
to get in as many jumps as possible in 10 minutes = chaos and a very unhappy
spazzed out bremmy. She had a bit of a fit in the ring so Ernesto got on her
and did a few jumps. At that point i almost switched out of the medal to
another hunter class because i didn't think i could keep her controled nicely
around that medal course. But they convinced me that I've done courses on her
at top speed and set up crazy courses at home so even if she was terrible i
could stick it out and learn. So anyway, we didn't place against stiff
competition in the Open hunter u/s. But we got FIRST in the Open hunter o/f
round one! Kerry and Ernesto said round two was pretty nice also but we pulled
a rail. Leah got first on Conner in the Open hunter o/f round two so that was
exciting anyway! The medal course was kinda strange, and included a halt after
the 6th fence, that was the first fence in a line- but you skipped the second
fence of that line. I dont think we actually got a complete halt, more of a
back up circle kinda prance stand still thing haha. They split up the two
outside lines into two roll backs, so i was kinda nervous about that but those
went pretty smooth. We had all been there for 11 hours so bremmy was a little
impatient by the medal class. So she did well considering the circumstances. We
ended up 6th place out of 9 in the medal. Hannah from my school eq team got
4th! It was just a schooling show so i wasn't worrying to much about placing-
more about how well Bremmy and I went. So we didn't get a zillion ribbons, but
I think it was pretty good despite the few spazzy moments. Everyone else did
realllllyyy well. Leah got every ribbon of the rainbow! and a champion and
reserve, and a girl Mikaela got first in basically all her classes (she was
happy when she got a 6th!) and champion. It was a long but good day!
oh p.s. we talked to
Kerry about taking brem to longacres. She says she's only worried about the
trip up there- so we're trying work something out that she feels comfortable
with. As long as you guys will still allow me to take her! So keep your fingers
crossed. My dad has also gotten really into this bridge thing haha.

(come on, we all knew it
was time for another novel)
I can't believe you were so close. Now I remember that EMT Mic and
vaguely remember the movie but no details. That is very funny. I remember
that guy.
I"m sure you had fun in the Bahamas, I've been a few times. I love the
islands and actually lived in StThomas a few years ago. I love it there
bc there seems to be much more to do than Atlantis.
- Erika (former LA camper from 15 years ago)
I figured you'd remember me but I said that just in case. LOL! We live
in Florida in Coral Springs. It's a little west of Ft Lauderdale. Do
you ever make it to South Florida. I would love to see you and meet your
wife too.
I thought I remembered everything but maybe not bc I don't remember "8
ways to kill a Mic" what was that? I don't remember the old boat
either. I definitely remember the mud races.....doing the dash for cash!! I
used to love going to them.
Do you only have a few campers per year now? I thought I read 9? That's
so much smaller than when I was there. I see you still use Esseress.
I have great memories from that cabin. I'll have to dig out some old
pics. I saw pics of Peppermint Patty on the website and was surprised to
see she was still around.
Anyway, I will definitely keep in touch now that I have. Your
email!!!!! Let me know when you'll be back in Fl.
Erika
Hello Tom and Meghan!
It's Kate! I'm just emailing to say three things:
1) Thank you for the birthday wish!
2) Ahhhhhhh!!!!! (The good kind of ahhhhhhh) I CAN'T BELIEEEEEEVVVVEEEE
I'M COMING BACK!!!!
I'm sooooo excited and totally pumped already.... I'm even thinking
about what to pack!
I didn't think my Mom was serious when she told me. I asked her if she
was and I STILL didn't believe
her when she said yes until she had said it over and over again!
AHHHHHHHHH! (once again the good kind) I can't wait to see Merlin and
Ebony and Star and everybody
and Merlin and did I mention Merlin??? I've missed everyone soooo much
I can't wait to muck out a Long Acres stall! (And that's saying
something!)
Is it all still the same? Will I know some people there? Are the jumps
all in the same position? Does the porto-potty still look
out-of-place? WAIT! Don't tell me... I want to see it all for myself!
3) Has my Mom told you about Cleo, my pony??? She's my favorite pony
ever! (Don't worry, Merlin's second =D )
Here are some photos..... Isn't she the greatest? Isn't she
FAB-BU-LOUS???? (The only problem is that I can't bring her to LA...)
Anyway, I miss you all, I love you all, and I'll see you all soon!!!!!!
~ Kate
Thanks Meghan!
We are looking for a stock type trailer, we would prefer 16ft.,I
believe
that's equivalent to about a 3 horse trailer..... slant load if
possible, we
don't care if it's a step up or ramp load either will work... and we
don't
care if it's bumper pull or Fifth wheel, we would probably actually
prefer
that it's fifth wheel style because we already have a truck set up with
a
hitch and everything....and we don't care if it's a little older as
long as
it's in road worthy condition!!!
Thanks so Much!
Danita
Hi Meghan!
Just wanted to let you know that I was emailing Marta and she seems so nice! She also sent me some REALLY cute pictures of a horse called...Merlin, I think. I talked to her on AIM and we made one of those group chat things with Michelle and Alexa. It was so much fun!
Anyway, I don't know if you came back from your vacation or not yet (if not you can just ignore this :) but my mom was wondering if you got our check in the mail?? She was "concerned". And by concerned I mean kinda flipping out becuase she thought she sent it to the wrong place or something! Anyway, could you just email me when you get it? So my mom can calm down? Thanks! Well, if you are not back from your vacation, then I hope you are still having fun!
Oh, and a question from me (as I am working on getting my parents to let me go to as many shows as possible!)
how many shows are there going to be for the second half of the second session? My mom was telling me about an A rated show, that sounds exciting! I have only ever shown once at the stables that I ride at. It is a really small stable and so there are only a couple of shows every year that we go to and they WAYYYY over charge for them, so my mom never lets me go. But I have been to one show and I LOVED it :) So I definitely want to do some showing at Longacres.
Thanks!
-Christina
Alexa,
No promises- - - but I will try! Sometimes it is easier than other times!

Hahha I haven't gone yet sometime next week since I had to be at the barn with my new ponyy!!!
Thanks!! I'm not very good at picking shownames. haha He's about ten years old, chestnut, cross-bred pony. I have known him for about three years maybe and he has come a long way. I leased him from the owner for a year, then girl didn't really get along with him, and wanted to do pony club things I think. He used to everytime cantered take off and buck and was really skittish and not friendly. He was pretty bad back then he used to live at the girls house shes pretty young her moms a trainer so they had a few horses. So he didn't get ridden too much since they had to trailer for lessons. Anyways, now he's really friendly and loves to be around people. He likes to lick your coat espically after he gets a treat. He has this trick of pushing the door open if you try to close it hes pretty strong too so you have to make sure his nose isn't in the way when your closing it, it makes me feel bad haha. In the second picture theres that plastic water thing he enjoys biting that off and has done it twice, so thats what you get for not paying attention to him. So in general he has pretty good "barn mannors". He's pretty good undersaddle but has some quirks. He can be real lazy sometimes but if you get mad at him a bit then he's pretty good. Likes to buck so I practicly don't notice anymore. He orginally did just hunters but then he wouldn't do his changes for a while so we went to the low jumpers. Now he does his changes too much and gives a half buck to get them. He's been to many shows and has done pretty well with me in hunters and jumpers. I think the older owner did some combinded training but I'm not really sure. So he can do many different things. (AHHH my guy just crashed!!!!) Well, i think thats enough for now haha my novel. and im not happy anymore grrrrrrr

Alexa,
Congrats, but I am still nervous to ask about the 2nd day of driving . . . !!!!!
I would be more than happy to help with a show name, but I need more data!! I really like to personalize them (as you know!). So if you already have a name, great, if not I will contribute (if I have some good 2 cents) if I have some way to know more about him. Colors , age, barn habits good and bad, if he is tried and true show horse or learning, why you picked him to be your horse, etc.
-Meghan
PS- I was already trying the other day (with no data, so it wasn't as personalized!) I was mixing up the letters in his name to be creative and stemming off if that, I got "Oley, Oley" like the island song?!?! Not that you can tell I was just out in the Bahamas??!?!?!

Mine own update. My new ponies good and we might have a show coming up in the next weeks!! I'm still have trouble picking out a new showname put fellow longacres family has been a lot of help. Spring breaks coming up at the end of next month so I'll get a lot of riding done. Marta and I our thinking about getting together sometime before the summer starts which of course is like forever from now. So she can meet my pony (she's met him before camp last year but he wasn't mine then) and maybe even ride him and some of the others at my barn. In my life other then horses and the computer (haha yes i actually do) I'm excited because NASCAR's on again!! YAYY And the writers strike is over and my favorite show "house" will be on in April!!!!! yayyy and Meghan I'm starting to Drive next week so don't come down to NJ to look for horses. :) I think thats all for now lots of homework this year. But only good thing is that we didn't get off on Fridayy like everyone in the state practicely soo we still get out on 16th so I'm happy. More later got to write a essay.

So, as promised here is the youtube video i would like to title the wild dogs and wildebeest episode. Featuring, the miniature pony Dancer [we missed videoing his lone-ranger rearing action], and dogs Abby & Zorra.

**We swear no animals were seriously harmed in the making of this film.
&& Just to show you a glimpse of Serra Valley Farms [and my beastly :) ] i will include this film of our jump course in the dustless indoor arena. Although
I would only bother watching the first half- the second round was pretty awful (unless of course you are feeling the urge to scream "more impulsion pace impulsion pace" in ur head over and over)... It had been a long ride and a long weekend and these were the last two courses of the day. (excuses excuses excuses)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjioAAz8Ke4
... and this is the horse famous for jumping from a gazillion feet away and bookin' it down the lines taking out strides here there and everywhere? Hmm...something tells me we need to find a happy medium between controlled-choppy-and chippy, and free flyin'.
Oh the chronicles of trying to make my beastly pick her self up and not charge around downhill leaving me feeling like im tumbling down a mountian road.

Hello, this was quite an interesting weekend so i have much to tell [of course]!
So if your find yourself looking for a book to read, continue on. If not, lets just say she was wonderful. :]
Bremmy handled the overnighter quite nicely :] she got her own private paddock even :p and she got a stall in the aqua therapy center - which she wasn't so keen on going into at first. Getting her on the trailer to GO there was a different story though. Oh boy she didn't want to get on, she'd walk up to it swing her butt around towards me and walk side ways- or go straight up in the air. But, we eventually coaxed her on after at least an half hour. [and i might of annoyed my dad just a tad because i wouldn't let him try because i was determined to get her on myself] Joker her field body was really depressed because all his friends were leaving and he was the only horse not going. I felt really bad about that :[
She was WONDERFUL riding AMAZING. i love this horse. She was a bit lazy the first day but thats okay. Jokers owner was riding this horse named BRandy. they are like the exact same horse, its quite funny. But Brandy hasn't been worked with as much so shes kinda like bremmy a year or so ago. So , we started the BRrr club haha. Brems owner/ my trainer Kerry was impressed with how shes been coming along so im happy :] She was going around all collected and pretty, shes such a good horse sometimes. The owner of the place [who doesn't ride.] is big into quarter horses, he has ALL Qh and one arabian [random right?] and hates warmbloods. So, he was calling Bremmy a mule the whole time, but thats okay we love her anyway.
I also learned alot! haha Kerry taught me how to clip bremmys fuzzy wuzzy legs [we tried anyway we mostly got the front two done, then bremmy was sick of it] and i cliped her muzzle...and then are you ready?!?!.....
i drove something for the first time!!! [even though i've had me learners since october.] Kerry taught me how to drive the little cart kaboto[spelling?] thingy. And she had me driving it around the farm back and forth between the big barn and the pony barn and the manure pile.....I only got stuck about 5 times [on the same slight incline] and caught it on fire.....
ahaha, okay the fire part wasn't my fault, and it wasn't really on FIRE just smoking...alot...because the manure and hay got on the engine. But it kinda freaked me out. Then they went on to tell me they had NEVER had that happen before....just great!
And i got to watch Bremmy getting her shots...oh boy that was a sight to see. Shes not too big on shots....
We all learned that the new pony piper is pregnant [surpirse!], Kerrys last new pony Sophie is a surprise pregnancy too [they thought she would have her foal christmas eve! but hasn't yet]. Kerrys decided shes only buying geldings from now on. Theres also two other pregnant mares there, and a yearling whose probably going to stay a stallion....phew.
....anyway, thats the end of my book. But you can expect a link to a youtube video sometime soon, of the FUNNIEST thing involving a dog...and a miniature pony.

Hey Annie,
How did Bremmy handle the 1st overnighter?!!!!
I TOTALLY agree with you about if there is no snow, what is the point of winter?!?! It is soooooo ugly when there isn't snow to cover the poor naked trees when they don't have their leaves!

YAY!
for updates :] it makes my exceptionally boring friday evening so much better!
literally, i saw the update and i grinned [and not just because of the picture of Tom riding the mini train]. Although, i've been on a mini train before, and they are quite enjoyable aha. I second the notion that spring should come NOW. there hasn't really been any snow- so theres really no point to winter. Freezing temperatures [without snow] are WORSE, because it makes it impossible to ride in the ring because it gets so frozen and theres no cushy snow. But i shant complain because its supposed to be pretty warm this weekend! Which is great because i have a weekend of riding adventures. Tomorrow we are trailering Bremmy back out to that shnazzy barn and guess what!
....
we're spending the night there! So its her first [well that im aware of?] overnight stay somewhere :] Im sure she'll fully enjoy the facilities- and i'll fully enjoy giving her a BATH! I
even made
brownies for this occasion! well, and because it was her birthday last weekend and i forgot *whoops*, shes now officially 8. CRAZY to think im not sure if she was 6 yet when i started riding her?! hold on let me calculate this in my head -pauses for a really long time, okay my heads starting to hurt-. if i starting riding her beginning of feb. of 06'....did that make her 5? if she was born feb 23 2000? i shall ponder this because my brain isn't working for some reason. By golly i think it did make her 5 [ a very old 5]?! Wow, im not sure if i knew what i was getting myself into then...I'd been riding what... 2 years? aha.
Anywho,
i really wish i could go swimming in that water featured in the cartwheel picture [ a graceful frog]. it looks so... clean! i also really wish i was down competeing on the florida circuit. Although, i'd probably be eaten alive with that compition. My ridings a
style="font-style:
italic;"> little [or alot] haywire lately. But, i'll fix it i hope. and then i'll come to longacres, and fix it even more :]
enjoy the nice warmth of floridaa [oh boy, i didn't mean for this one to be a long email, i swear haha]
Annie
Hi Tom and Meghan,
Thanks for the update! and the advice!.....
so I will definitely plan on bringing Majic.... I'm not sure about Derricks horse
yet...I'm thinking he probably won't bring him... I'm not sure he wants to deal with
all that, plus Evan doesn't load on our trailer really well, it's rather small for him...
were actually looking for more of a stock like trailer the previous owner said
he loaded on one of them really good...it's hard finding something that is road worthy in
our price budget though so were still on the look out for one!! Let me know if you hear of anything!! ; )
speaking of trailering,
this last Thursday I had an experience...We trailered Majic over for our lesson...and I thought
he did very good (I say that because there were others who though he didn't do good)....but anyways....he was stretching his neck and lowering his head and relaxing at the trot and I am learning to
"leave him alone" if you will and not be in his mouth so much, we think that some of his being wound up is from me
trying to slow him down but by slowing him down I have the habit to hang too much in his mouth
which he does not like...if I leave him alone..and just ride with a looser rein and alittle contact he does much better
so that's encouraging!!! anyway...we get all done and I go to load him on the trailer and he doesn't usually step right up on he takes a few minuets to stand there and I just usually be patient and then he will walk up in...I've worked with him allot to get him to this point and he was doing good...so I wasn't standing there two minuets when the instructor comes out and is like "no, no, your doing it all wrong." and starts doing all this stuff with him...so long story short she spent all most half and hour messing around with him and she got him all wound up and never got him close to loading on...she finally quit and gave up because she had horses to put in and it was getting dark...but it took me a 20 to 30 minuets more before I got him settled down and then he went on... but now thanks to her "training" he doesn't want to go on at all...I can't say that I blame him...only it really frustrates me after I've worked so long with him to get him to where he is...it just goes to show you how horses remember!! and it also brings home the fact to me
that you need to take your time, be patient and work through things with them and always end on a positive note... so I have my work cut out for me now...fun!
On a better note we had an unmounted pony club meeting this Saturday... it was a presentation on bits and bridles... it was very informative and I learned allot! I found out allot of stuff that I had always wondered about but never known...
it also helped me out with what bit I should venture into trying on Evan, granted I'm not looking for a miracle bit, but the lady said every horses is different and if you find the horses that your horse goes "happy" in then it will eliminate allot of problems....
I think I am also going to experiment and try a few different bits on Majic..I'm riding him in a plain egg-butt snaffle...
he does better in it than anything I've ridden him in yet, but he still doesn't act completely happy in it... he tends to chew allot...I'm thinking I might try a happy mouth snaffle on him or something and see if he likes it better!! : )
soooo, now that you guy's are on your way home things are warming up here!
today we hit a high of 50 it was soooo nice...granted it was very sloppy but still
it felt really good to be outside in just a sweatshirt for once and not have to bundle
all up!!
: ) I took advantage of the day and got out and went
for a walk...I've been walking to keep in shape this winter, when we started riding lessons
my legs were really sore and stiff and it wasn't helping with my riding at all so I started walking
and it's helped tons!! so I'm very Happy about that! : )
Majic has a boo-boo today... were not sure what happened we think he maybe hit his eye
during the trailer deal, but It's swollen up today...it looks like he just scraped the lid or bumped it so
I'm hoping it will get better...: (
Well I better be going....
ttyl,
Danita : )
P.S.
Robyn's Mothers e-mail about her experience was very "interesting"
at first I was like "oh no!" but the farther I kept reading and knowing she
stayed on I actually started laughing... because I could just picture
'Q" flying around the ring with her hanging on to his neck for dear life!!
Ahhhh, life without horses would be so dull!! : )

since you've been out of range of getting e-mail's I don't expect a reply to my previous one for awhile but I do have another important question that I totally forgot to mention and that was Is there any possibility that I could bring Majic to camp for my 1 week visit??? At first I was thinking that I was going to leave him home and just ride your horses but then I got thinking that even though its only 1 week it would still give me some time to work with him and get some help, and of course practice with a field of jumps and everything! maybe we could jump a small course! *hint, hint* *lol* Hopefully we will have come along more by then : ) anyway... I was just wondering what you thought about the idea...
Let me know when you have a chance....
now I must pull on my snow boots and plow my way over to the barn...winter don't ya love it *lol*
Danita : )
Hey Tom and Megan!
Sorry I missed both of your birthdays! I was in Vegas, and I didn't get internet. But I have some more pictures that you could use in your meet the staff page! I attached them to this email! I got on the website today, and it looks like you are having a lot of fun! It is funny that they like the poker chip jump best, because I think I actually like the lamp post one best! Haha!
I hope you are doing well!
Claire
ahaha, sounds like a good plan. But as long as i stick to 'driving' horses, i think we'll be good. I've yet to catch a horse on fire!!

the first time!!!
We all learned that the new pony piper is pregnant [surpirse!], Kerrys last new pony Sophie is a surprise pregnancy too [they thought she would have her foal christmas eve! but
hasn't yet]. Kerrys
decided shes only buying geldings from now on. Theres also two other pregnant mares there, and a yearling whose probably going to stay a stallion....phew.
....anyway, thats the end of my book. But you can expect a link to a youtube video sometime soon, of the FUNNIEST thing involving a dog...and a miniature pony.

Hey Annie,
How did Bremmy handle the 1st
overnighter?!!!!
I TOTALLY agree with you about if there is no snow, what is the
point of winter?!?!

Wow, im not sure if i knew what i was getting myself into then...I'd been
riding what...
2 years? aha.
Anywho,
i really wish i could go swimming in that water featured in the cartwheel picture [ a graceful frog]. it looks so... clean! i also really wish i was down competeing on the florida circuit. Although, i'd probably be eaten alive with that compition. My ridings a
style="font-style:
italic;"> little [or alot] haywire lately. But, i'll fix it i hope. and then i'll come to longacres, and fix it even more :]
enjoy the nice warmth of floridaa [oh boy, i didn't mean for this one to be a long email, i swear haha]
Annie
I was hoping you'd get it???? Its a beautiful day today!
