Below is the latest novel from Annie, as of 4-28-08!

Hello Tom and Meghan.

I havn't emailed in forever...

sorry i never sent the description of the Longacres in DC party, or Emmys visit. It got kinda busy! Well emmys visit was fantastic- and we did muchly appreciate that cookie cake :] (yes, i had enough will power to keep it in my freezer for a whole week!) We all picked her up from the airport and continued to stay up until like 3 am. Me and Hannah we're the early risers (at 8 am!) Then the next day Emmy came and visited bremmy, and we chased her around the ring. Dont worry though, Emmy still says Quantum (& shabang!) are better. So, thats the super short super delayed version of all that.

Brems been good lately, we just had a show yesterday! a TWELVE HOUR long SCHOOLING show. We trailered leahs horse joker, and bremmy. Kerry trailered her horses Deerbrook and Conner. I also rode Ernesto's pony Carmela shes been undersaddle for about a little over a month. Shes the CUTEST thing everrrr. So so sweet. We got second in w/t. Brem&I entered in Open Hunter, and the Junior/Ammy Medal. I've decided that controlled schooling rings are NOT the place for bremmy.  5 people trying to get in as many jumps as possible in 10 minutes = chaos and a very unhappy spazzed out bremmy. She had a bit of a fit in the ring so Ernesto got on her and did a few jumps. At that point i almost switched out of the medal to another hunter class because i didn't think i could keep her controled nicely around that medal course. But they convinced me that I've done courses on her at top speed and set up crazy courses at home so even if she was terrible i could stick it out and learn. So anyway, we didn't place against stiff competition in the Open hunter u/s. But we got FIRST in the Open hunter o/f round one! Kerry and Ernesto said round two was pretty nice also but we pulled a rail. Leah got first on Conner in the Open hunter o/f round two so that was exciting anyway! The medal course was kinda strange, and included a halt after the 6th fence, that was the first fence in a line- but you skipped the second fence of that line. I dont think we actually got a complete halt, more of a back up circle kinda prance stand still thing haha. They split up the two outside lines into two roll backs, so i was kinda nervous about that but those went pretty smooth. We had all been there for 11 hours so bremmy was a little impatient by the medal class. So she did well considering the circumstances. We ended up 6th place out of 9 in the medal. Hannah from my school eq team got 4th! It was just a schooling show so i wasn't worrying to much about placing- more about how well Bremmy and I went. So we didn't get a zillion ribbons, but I think it was pretty good despite the few spazzy moments. Everyone else did realllllyyy well. Leah got every ribbon of the rainbow! and a champion and reserve, and a girl Mikaela got first in basically all her classes (she was happy when she got a 6th!) and champion. It was a long but good day!

oh p.s. we talked to Kerry about taking brem to longacres. She says she's only worried about the trip up there- so we're trying work something out that she feels comfortable with. As long as you guys will still allow me to take her! So keep your fingers crossed. My dad has also gotten really into this bridge thing haha.

(come on, we all knew it was time for another novel)

I can't believe you were so close. Now I remember that EMT Mic and

vaguely remember the movie but no details. That is very funny. I remember

that guy.

I"m sure you had fun in the Bahamas, I've been a few times. I love the

islands and actually lived in StThomas a few years ago. I love it there

bc there seems to be much more to do than Atlantis.

-     Erika (former LA camper from 15 years ago)

I figured you'd remember me but I said that just in case. LOL! We live

in Florida in Coral Springs. It's a little west of Ft Lauderdale. Do

you ever make it to South Florida. I would love to see you and meet your

wife too.

I thought I remembered everything but maybe not bc I don't remember "8

ways to kill a Mic" what was that? I don't remember the old boat

either. I definitely remember the mud races.....doing the dash for cash!! I

used to love going to them.

Do you only have a few campers per year now? I thought I read 9? That's

so much smaller than when I was there. I see you still use Esseress.

I have great memories from that cabin. I'll have to dig out some old

pics. I saw pics of Peppermint Patty on the website and was surprised to

see she was still around.

Anyway, I will definitely keep in touch now that I have. Your

email!!!!! Let me know when you'll be back in Fl.

Erika

Hello Tom and Meghan!

It's Kate! I'm just emailing to say three things:

1) Thank you for the birthday wish!

2) Ahhhhhhh!!!!! (The good kind of ahhhhhhh) I CAN'T BELIEEEEEEVVVVEEEE

I'M COMING BACK!!!!

I'm sooooo excited and totally pumped already.... I'm even thinking

about what to pack!

I didn't think my Mom was serious when she told me. I asked her if she

was and I STILL didn't believe

her when she said yes until she had said it over and over again!

AHHHHHHHHH! (once again the good kind) I can't wait to see Merlin and

Ebony and Star and everybody

and Merlin and did I mention Merlin??? I've missed everyone soooo much

I can't wait to muck out a Long Acres stall! (And that's saying

something!)

Is it all still the same? Will I know some people there? Are the jumps

all in the same position? Does the porto-potty still look

out-of-place? WAIT! Don't tell me... I want to see it all for myself!

3) Has my Mom told you about Cleo, my pony??? She's my favorite pony

ever! (Don't worry, Merlin's second =D )

Here are some photos..... Isn't she the greatest? Isn't she

FAB-BU-LOUS???? (The only problem is that I can't bring her to LA...)

Anyway, I miss you all, I love you all, and I'll see you all soon!!!!!!

~ Kate

Thanks Meghan!

We are looking for a stock type trailer, we would prefer 16ft.,I

believe

that's equivalent to about a 3 horse trailer..... slant load if

possible, we

don't care if it's a step up or ramp load either will work... and we

don't

care if it's bumper pull or Fifth wheel, we would probably actually

prefer

that it's fifth wheel style because we already have a truck set up with

a

hitch and everything....and we don't care if it's a little older as

long as

it's in road worthy condition!!!

Thanks so Much!

Danita

Hi Meghan!

Just wanted to let you know that I was emailing Marta and she seems so nice! She also sent me some REALLY cute pictures of a horse called...Merlin, I think.  I talked to her on AIM and we made one of those group chat things with Michelle and Alexa. It was so much fun!

Anyway, I don't know if you came back from your vacation or not yet (if not you can just ignore this :)  but my mom was wondering if you got our check in the mail?? She was "concerned". And by concerned I mean kinda flipping out becuase she thought she sent it to the wrong place or something! Anyway, could you just email me when you get it? So my mom can calm down? Thanks! Well, if you are not back from your vacation, then I hope you are still having fun!

Oh, and a question from me (as I am working on getting my parents to let me go to as many shows as possible!)

how many shows are there going to be for the second half of the second session? My mom was telling me about an A rated show, that sounds exciting! I have only ever shown once at the stables that I ride at. It is a really small stable and so there are only a couple of shows every year that we go to and they WAYYYY over charge for them, so my mom never lets me go. But I have been to one show and I LOVED it :) So I definitely want to do some showing at Longacres.

Thanks!

-Christina

Hahha I haven't gone yet sometime next week since I had to be at the barn with my new ponyy!!!

Thanks!!  I'm not very good at picking shownames. haha  He's about ten years old, chestnut, cross-bred pony.  I have known him for about three years maybe and he has come a long way.  I leased him from the owner for a year, then girl didn't really get along with him, and wanted to do pony club things  I think.  He used to everytime cantered take off and buck and was really skittish and not friendly.  He was pretty bad back then he used to live at the girls house shes pretty young her moms a trainer so they had a few horses.  So he didn't get ridden too much since they had to trailer for lessons.  Anyways, now he's really friendly and loves to be around people.  He likes to lick your coat espically after he gets a treat.  He has this trick of pushing the door open if you try to close it hes pretty strong too so you have to make sure his nose isn't in the way when your closing it,  it makes me feel bad haha.  In the second picture theres that plastic water thing he enjoys biting that off and has done it twice, so thats what you get for not paying attention to him.  So in general he has pretty good "barn mannors".  He's pretty good undersaddle but has some quirks.  He can be real lazy sometimes but if you get mad at him a bit then he's pretty good.  Likes to buck so I practicly don't notice anymore.  He orginally did just hunters but then he wouldn't do his changes for a while so we went to the low jumpers.  Now he does his changes too much and gives a half buck to get them.  He's been to many shows and has done pretty well with me in hunters and jumpers.  I think the older owner did some combinded training but I'm not really sure.  So he can do many different things.   (AHHH my guy just crashed!!!!)  Well, i think thats enough for now haha my novel.  and im not happy anymore grrrrrrr

Alexa,

Congrats, but I am still nervous to ask about the 2nd day of driving . . . !!!!!

I would be more than happy to help with a show name, but I need more data!!  I really like to personalize them (as you know!).  So if you already have a name, great, if not I will contribute (if I have some good 2 cents) if I have some way to know more about him.  Colors , age, barn habits good and bad, if he is tried and true show horse or learning, why you picked him to be your horse, etc.

-Meghan

PS- I was already trying the other day (with no data, so it wasn't as personalized!)  I was mixing up the letters in his name to be creative and stemming off if that, I got "Oley, Oley"  like the island song?!?!  Not that you can tell I was just out in the Bahamas??!?!?!

Mine own update.  My new ponies good and we might have a show coming up in the next weeks!! I'm still have trouble picking out a new showname put fellow longacres family has been a lot of help.  Spring breaks coming up at the end of next month so I'll get a lot of riding done.  Marta and I our thinking about getting together sometime before the summer starts which of course is like forever from now.  So she can meet my pony (she's met him before camp last year but he wasn't mine then) and maybe even ride him and some of the others at my barn.  In my life other then horses and the computer (haha yes i actually do) I'm excited because NASCAR's on again!! YAYY  And the writers strike is over and my favorite show "house" will be on in April!!!!! yayyy  and Meghan I'm starting to Drive next week so don't come down to NJ to look for horses.  :)  I think thats all for now lots of homework this year.  But only good thing is that we didn't get off on Fridayy like everyone in the state practicely soo we still get out on 16th so I'm happy.  More later got to write a essay.

So, as promised here is the youtube video i would like to title the wild dogs and wildebeest episode. Featuring, the miniature pony Dancer [we missed videoing his lone-ranger rearing action], and dogs Abby & Zorra.

**We swear no animals were seriously harmed in the making of this film.

&& Just to show you a glimpse of Serra Valley Farms [and my beastly :) ] i will include this film of our jump course in the dustless indoor arena. Although

I would only bother watching the first half- the second round was pretty awful (unless of course you are feeling the urge to scream "more impulsion pace impulsion pace" in ur head over and over)... It had been a long ride and a long weekend and these were the last two courses of the day. (excuses excuses excuses)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjioAAz8Ke4

... and this is the horse famous for jumping from a gazillion feet away and bookin' it down the lines taking out strides here there and everywhere? Hmm...something tells me we need to find a happy medium between controlled-choppy-and chippy, and free flyin'.

Oh the chronicles of trying to make my beastly pick her self up and not charge around downhill leaving me feeling like im tumbling down a mountian road.

Hello, this was quite an interesting weekend so i have much to tell [of course]!

So if your find yourself looking for a book to read, continue on. If not, lets just say she was wonderful. :]

Bremmy handled the overnighter quite nicely :] she got her own private paddock even :p and she got a stall in the aqua therapy center - which she wasn't so keen on going into at first. Getting her on the trailer to GO there was a different story though. Oh boy she didn't want to get on, she'd walk up to it swing her butt around towards me and walk side ways- or go straight up in the air. But, we eventually coaxed her on after at least an half hour. [and i might of annoyed my dad just a tad because i wouldn't let him try because i was determined to get her on myself] Joker her field body was really depressed because all his friends were leaving and he was the only horse not going. I felt really bad about that :[

She was WONDERFUL riding AMAZING. i love this horse. She was a bit lazy the first day but thats okay. Jokers owner was riding this horse named BRandy. they are like the exact same horse, its quite funny. But Brandy hasn't been worked with as much so shes kinda like bremmy a year or so ago. So , we started the BRrr club haha. Brems owner/ my trainer Kerry was impressed with how shes been coming along so im happy :] She was going around all collected and pretty, shes such a good horse sometimes. The owner of the place [who doesn't ride.] is big into quarter horses, he has ALL Qh and one arabian [random right?] and hates warmbloods. So, he was calling Bremmy a mule the whole time, but thats okay we love her anyway.

I also learned alot! haha Kerry taught me how to clip bremmys fuzzy wuzzy legs [we tried anyway we mostly got the front two done, then bremmy was sick of it] and i cliped her muzzle...and then are you ready?!?!.....

i drove something for the first time!!! [even though i've had me learners since october.] Kerry taught me how to drive the little cart kaboto[spelling?] thingy. And she had me driving it around the farm back and forth between the big barn and the pony barn and the manure pile.....I only got stuck about 5 times [on the same slight incline] and caught it on fire.....

ahaha, okay the fire part wasn't my fault, and it wasn't really on FIRE just smoking...alot...because the manure and hay got on the engine. But it kinda freaked me out. Then they went on to tell me they had NEVER had that happen before....just great!

And i got to watch Bremmy getting her shots...oh boy that was a sight to see. Shes not too big on shots....

We all learned that the new pony piper is pregnant [surpirse!], Kerrys last new pony Sophie is a surprise pregnancy too [they thought she would have her foal christmas eve! but hasn't yet]. Kerrys decided shes only buying geldings from now on. Theres also two other pregnant mares there, and a yearling whose probably going to stay a stallion....phew.

....anyway, thats the end of my book. But you can expect a link to a youtube video sometime soon, of the FUNNIEST thing involving a dog...and a miniature pony.

Hey Annie,

How did Bremmy handle the 1st overnighter?!!!!

I TOTALLY agree with you about if there is no snow, what is the point of winter?!?! It is soooooo ugly when there isn't snow to cover the poor naked trees when they don't have their leaves!

YAY!

for updates :] it makes my exceptionally boring friday evening so much better!

literally, i saw the update and i grinned [and not just because of the picture of Tom riding the mini train]. Although, i've been on a mini train before, and they are quite enjoyable aha. I second the notion that spring should come NOW. there hasn't really been any snow- so theres really no point to winter. Freezing temperatures [without snow] are WORSE, because it makes it impossible to ride in the ring because it gets so frozen and theres no cushy snow. But i shant complain because its supposed to be pretty warm this weekend! Which is great because i have a weekend of riding adventures. Tomorrow we are trailering Bremmy back out to that shnazzy barn and guess what!

....

we're spending the night there! So its her first [well that im aware of?] overnight stay somewhere :] Im sure she'll fully enjoy the facilities- and i'll fully enjoy giving her a BATH! I

even made

brownies for this occasion! well, and because it was her birthday last weekend and i forgot *whoops*, shes now officially 8. CRAZY to think im not sure if she was 6 yet when i started riding her?! hold on let me calculate this in my head -pauses for a really long time, okay my heads starting to hurt-. if i starting riding her beginning of feb. of 06'....did that make her 5? if she was born feb 23 2000? i shall ponder this because my brain isn't working for some reason. By golly i think it did make her 5 [ a very old 5]?! Wow, im not sure if i knew what i was getting myself into then...I'd been riding what... 2 years? aha.

Anywho,

i really wish i could go swimming in that water featured in the cartwheel picture [ a graceful frog]. it looks so... clean! i also really wish i was down competeing on the florida circuit. Although, i'd probably be eaten alive with that compition. My ridings a

style="font-style:

italic;"> little [or alot] haywire lately. But, i'll fix it i hope. and then i'll come to longacres, and fix it even more :]

enjoy the nice warmth of floridaa [oh boy, i didn't mean for this one to be a long email, i swear haha]

Hi Tom and Meghan,

Thanks for the update! and the advice!.....

so I will definitely plan on bringing Majic.... I'm not sure about Derricks horse

yet...I'm thinking he probably won't bring him... I'm not sure he wants to deal with

all that, plus Evan doesn't load on our trailer really well, it's rather small for him...

were actually looking for more of a stock like trailer the previous owner said

he loaded on one of them really good...it's hard finding something that is road worthy in

our price budget though so were still on the look out for one!! Let me know if you hear of anything!! ;  )

speaking of trailering,

this last Thursday I had an experience...We trailered Majic over for our lesson...and I thought

he did very good (I say that because there were others who though he didn't do good)....but anyways....he was stretching his neck and lowering his head and relaxing at the trot and I am learning to

"leave him alone" if you will and not be in his mouth so much, we think that some of his being wound up is from me

trying to slow him down but by slowing him down I have the habit to hang too much in his mouth

which he does not like...if I leave him alone..and just ride with a looser rein and alittle contact he does much better

so that's encouraging!!! anyway...we get all done and I go to load him on the trailer and he doesn't usually step right up on he takes a few minuets to stand there and I just usually be patient and then he will walk up in...I've worked with him allot to get him to this point and he was doing good...so I wasn't standing there two minuets when the instructor comes out and is like "no, no, your doing it all wrong." and starts doing all this stuff with him...so long story short she spent all most half and hour messing around with him and she got him all wound up and never got him close to loading on...she finally quit and gave up because she had horses to put in and it was getting dark...but it took me a 20 to 30 minuets more before I got him settled down and then he went on... but now thanks to her "training" he doesn't want to go on at all...I can't say that I blame him...only it really frustrates me after I've worked so long with him to get him to where he is...it just goes to show you how horses remember!! and it also brings home the fact to me

that you need to take your time, be patient and work through things with them and always end on a positive note... so I have my work cut out for me now...fun!

On a better note we had an unmounted pony club meeting this Saturday... it was a presentation on bits and bridles... it was very informative and I learned allot! I found out allot of stuff that I had always wondered about but never known...

it also helped me out with what bit I should venture into trying on Evan, granted I'm not looking for a miracle bit, but the lady said every horses is different and if you find the horses that your horse goes "happy" in then it will eliminate allot of problems....

I think I am also going to experiment and try a few different bits on Majic..I'm riding him in a plain egg-butt snaffle...

he does better in it than anything I've ridden him in yet, but he still doesn't act completely happy in it... he tends to chew allot...I'm thinking I might try a happy mouth snaffle on him or something and see if he likes it better!! :  )

soooo, now that you guy's are on your way home things are warming up here!

today we hit a high of 50 it was soooo nice...granted it was very sloppy but still

it felt really good to be outside in just a sweatshirt for once and not have to bundle

all up!!

:  ) I took advantage of the day and got out and went

for a walk...I've been walking to keep in shape this winter, when we started riding lessons

my legs were really sore and stiff and it wasn't helping with my riding at all so I started walking

and it's helped tons!! so I'm very Happy about that! :  )

Majic has a boo-boo today... were not sure what happened we think he maybe hit his eye

during the trailer deal, but It's swollen up today...it looks like he just scraped the lid or bumped it so

I'm hoping it will get better...:  (

Well I better be going....

ttyl,

        Danita :  )

P.S.

Robyn's Mothers e-mail about her experience was very "interesting"

at first I was like "oh no!" but the farther I kept reading and knowing she

stayed on I actually started laughing... because I could just picture

'Q" flying around the ring with her hanging on to his neck for dear life!!

Ahhhh, life without horses would be so dull!! :  )

since you've been out of range of getting e-mail's I don't expect a reply to my previous one for awhile but I do have another important question that I totally forgot to mention and that was Is there any possibility that I could bring Majic to camp for my 1 week visit??? At first I was thinking that I was going to leave him home and just ride your horses but then I got thinking that even though its only 1 week it would still give me some time to work with him and get some help, and of course practice with a field of jumps and everything! maybe we could jump a small course! *hint, hint* *lol* Hopefully we will have come along more by then :  ) anyway... I was just wondering what you thought about the idea...

Let me know when you have a chance....

Hey Tom and Megan!

Sorry I missed both of your birthdays! I was in Vegas, and I didn't get internet. But I have some more pictures that you could use in your meet the staff page! I attached them to this email! I got on the website today, and it looks like you are having a lot of fun! It is funny that they like the poker chip jump best, because I think I actually like the lamp post one best! Haha!

I hope you are doing well!

ahaha, sounds like a good plan. But as long as i stick to 'driving' horses, i think we'll be good. I've yet to catch a horse on fire!!

[and i might of annoyed my dad just a tad because i wouldn't let him try because i was determined to get her on myself] Joker her field body was really depressed because all his friends were leaving and he was the only horse not going. I felt really bad about that :[

She was WONDERFUL riding

AMAZING. i love this

horse.

I also learned alot! haha Kerry taught me how to clip bremmys fuzzy wuzzy legs [we tried anyway we mostly got the front two done, then bremmy was sick of it] and i cliped her muzzle...and then are you ready?!?!.....

i drove something for

the first time!!!

We all learned that the new pony piper is pregnant [surpirse!], Kerrys last new pony Sophie is a surprise pregnancy too [they thought she would have her foal christmas eve! but

hasn't yet]. Kerrys

decided shes only buying geldings from now on. Theres also two other pregnant mares there, and a yearling whose probably going to stay a stallion....phew.

....anyway, thats the end of my book. But you can expect a link to a youtube video sometime soon, of the FUNNIEST thing involving a dog...and a miniature pony.

Hi Tom,

I donÕt know if you remember me but I came to your camp for several years during my high school years back in 87-90.  I was looking at brochures of summer camps just now and thought of my days at Longacres so I typed it in my computer and here I am so I  thought IÕd say hello. IÕm so glad to find out itÕs still there. I remember everthing about it. It was such a great time to be there each year. I wish it wasnÕt so far from my home town (in NJ) or IÕd come visit sometime. I actually live in Florida now and have an almost 2 year old. IÕve been an ICU nurse for 12 years. Remember how I became such good friends with Jen Siepierski. I lost touch with her so many years ago. Do you happen to know if she still lives in the area? What about Missy? Do you ever hear from her? I canÕt remember her last nameÉ.long blonde hair. Anyway, I attached a picture of my son and I. I hope youÕre doing well.

Alexa

I have a funny/ scary story to tell you! OK, so today, Ofelia and I were jumping a triple (like, we were in the same lesson). So, it was my turn, and I was riding the pony I always ride, Scout. We were coming to the triple at the canter, and so I pushed him because he was about to refuse, and he stopped, then lurched over the jump. I was thrown onto his neck and hanging on for dear life. Then, since the second jump was only a stride away, we jumped that (I was still hanging on for dear life). And then, just as he was about to jump the third one, I was in a really awkward position, and he thought "Oh, I know this girl loves to hug me, but not when she's riding me," and was REALLY nice and didn't jump the third jump. I managed to stay on, and the corrections we made after I regained my balance were flawless. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Anyway, I'm glad I'm not considered a newbie anymore, and I'm glad you had fun in the Bahamas (a place I've never been).

As to your question about Q, well I don't know.  But he like a lot of our horses did return to the exact same home every year to Tovah (year after year).  Ginger also kept going to the same home except for last year.  Some of our horses have more changeovers.  We haven't been able to really be in touch with Tovah lately as she has undergone a change of living quarters by state, etc.

I'm thinking I should move down to Philly at this rate to take full advantage of all the treatments!!!

Seriously, though, we hope you are feeling alright . . .

Ok, so I just have to tell you what happened to me todayÉbecause I am 52 years old and just a wee bit too old to be having these kinds of adventuresÉbut I know that you will understand.

So itÕs cold and the ring is kind of yucky but we have only ridden short trail rides this week because of the weather so we take the horses into the arena for a little workoutÉI am on Quantum and Robyn is on Ginger. All is well until Q gets a little feisty and starts to buckÉso I bring him back to a stop, back him up and try againÉon the third episode of this I pull back and the bridle breaks and flips over and off of his head (itÕs a hackamore so no bit or noseband to keep it in place). I am now on a very large horse with no bridleÉ in fact the bridle is dragging from the throat latch now around the base of his neck and precariously close to his legs as he takes off at a full gallop around the very large arenaÉI decide that bailing out at such a high speed is probably not a good idea (especially since the ground is frozen) so I grab mane and hang on for dear life saying in my very calmest voice: Whoa Quantum WhoaÉ.as he continues to fly around the arena at break neck speed (and now I really know what they mean by that). My foot starts to wedge into the stirrup which I decide is a really bad idea in case I fall and get draggedÉso I inch it outÉ only to loose the whole damn thingÉso now I am flying around trying to grab the loose bridle so it doesnÕt keep banging the horse or get caught in his feet and trying to get my foot back into the stirrup so that it too stops banging himÉand Quantum is just galloping around and around, almost falling three times. Robyn figures we went around almost 30 times before he finally decided he had had enough and stopped. But before I could get off he decided to trot over to the gate and stop there insteadÉI slid off, gently put what was left of the bridle back on his head and lead him very quietly back to the barn where I proceeded to have an asthma attack and migraine!

Moral of the storyÉalways put the strong, young, less breakable rider on the thoroughbred who hasnÕt had enough exercise while getting extra feed to keep him fattened up for the winter!!!

I think I am ready to go lie on a beach for a week.

PS: This was actually yesterday and today he was really very calm for RobynÉwonder why? I decided to go back to good old Sunny for the day since I am rather sore, not hurt; just sore. I hadnÕt cantered Q before but I think I am now qualified.

Hi!

Just wanted to let you know that I am SO excited to be coming to Longacres  for the summer! :) I will be sure to take a pic. of me and my favorite horse soon, but I only ride on Saturdays so I can only get it to you by next week. I have been riding for over 1 1/2 years; actually in june it will be two years! I LOVE riding so much! I really like spending time at the barn near my house, even when I don't ride, but my Mom only lets me go during the week when I don't have much homework :(

I do spend the whole day at the barn on saturdays , though!

I do jump, nothing too high, but I think jumping is my favorite thing! The highest thing I have ever jumped was 2 1/2 ft, and that was at camp last year. I havn't really jumped since! I don't jump in all of my lessons. The only ring that we really jump in is the "big front ring", but it has been covered in ice since the end of November, and it will be opening up at the beginning of may, I think. I hadn't jumped much before November, so the last time I was consistently jumping was at camp.  Until May I don't think I will be jumping, although I wish I was!

Ok, well I will send you that picture by next week!

Hi Tom and Meghan!

Glad you liked the card!

Anyway, maybe you want to send me Griffin's email address, and that way maybe I can talk to her.... Sometimes my email has problems and messages don't get to me.  I would really like to talk to her.... especially since she can tell me about Merlin:)

Ofelia

PS: I am very jealous.... you are in the Carribbean!

Hey guys~

Great pictures!  The little train looks like fun and i THOROUGHLY enjoyed the picture of tom's cartwheel!!!  It's quite impressive.  I saw it and was like, "WOWWW, go tom!!!!"  It would be pretty entertaining to see the "frog" picture (shame on you meghan, how rude!), but if you are not willing to share, then so be it... (hint hint)   Oh yeah and wellington looks AMAZING. fancy fancy fancy.

I've had the flu (or at least we think it's the flu...) since tuesday and i've so far missed three riding lessons and seven hours of working :[  So i am very horse deprived at the moment.  Updates are very much appreciated!!!

~hannah

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  I have a sore throat and I am losing my voice.  My sisters think that it is funny.  Anyway, I have this Social Studies quiz on monday and tuesday.  The also on tuesday I have a spanish quiz on fruits.  So I will be busy this weekend studying like crazy.  Anyways how is your road trip?  I hope you are having fun.  I LOVE the new meet the horses page.  The pictures are huge and you can see a lot of details.  I was wondering why is Boberts show name DiscomBOBulated?  I was reading over a bunch of stuff and it said to ask you.  I have to go work on my homework or I will be doomed.  Bye!!  Write back soon!!!

HI!!  I didn't know Meghan's Birthday was on the 18th.  That is my sister's birthday too.  She is 9 now.  How are you guys enjoying your road trip?  I just got back from Chatauqua on tuesday.  Then I had a sleepover with my friends.  Today after we go to my sister's tudoring place we are going back to Chatauqua.  It is something that my mom's side of the family does.  In a couple months we are going to Lake Placid!  I am really excited.  My grandma rented us a condo that I think she said looks out over the lake.  My whole family will be there.  My dad says that we are going to do a lot of camping and may even go to Boston this summer.  I like camping.  Oh and by the way we have a new addition to the family.  When I came to camp last year my family had 5 cars.  The big van, the mini van, the mercades, the Thunder Bird, and the Mustang.  Most of them are my dad's toys.  But he decided that he wanted to have another.  So he found a 2003 BMW.  And what do you know?  He bought it.  He says he's just going to fix it up and sell it.  And then after that he is going to sell the big van, and the Thunder Bird.  A 3 for 1 deal is what he says.  When all of that is finished he is going to buy a big car that can pull our Airstream.  Well that is the car talk of the month for the Taylor family.  I hope you are having fun on your roadtrip.  Write back soon.

Hi Tom and Meghan!!

First of all i would like to say that it has been an insane month

here and that's why i haven't written lately! I'm wishing a very late

happy birthday to both of you because i was out of town and completely

away from internet and longacres.com just long enough to miss out on all

the action! so happy birthday!!!

I'm warning you in advance here that you should be ready for an

annie length narrative here, or whatever she calls them =]

Starting with the horse updates: I'm still working with that paint

pony buster you heard about back in october and he is still the love of

my life!! i'm also kind of between trainers right now making a current

total of 13 trainers in 3 and 1/2 years. yes, yes this does get

highly annoying, however i trying to take everything i can from each of them

so i can be as well rounded as possible (even though lots of their

ideas and opinions are annoyingly conflicting). Also, my barn has a jump

policy of something ridiculous like 18" maximum on school horses. most

of my trainers are cool and realize that theres only so much you can

accomplish at a foot and a half, and let me work between 2'6" and 3'3,

but occasionally i end up with a trainer who does not. it's usually

with these bad trainers that i start regressing and picking up bad habits.

Unfortunately, i had one of these not soo good trainers in november

through the early part of february, but im happy to say that i have just

this past week gotten over all those bad habits! and so the cycle

begins again. but now for the really good news.........drumroll

please..........if i can keep my grades up i'm getting a horse when i get back

from longacres this summer!!!!!!!!! it still feels so unreal but im very

excited!

And now for the life news! first of all tom, i'm going to forgive

you for not listing me with the others in going on to maybe compete at

grand prix heights because i plan on eventing in the ****CCIs and CICs

(hehe jusssst kidding about the forgiving lol). but i do want to ride in

grand prixs too. AND i hope you keep the "cross country" class in the

summer shows! maybe this year shabang will jump out of the pasture =]

but now i really should go sleep because i'm waking up at 6 tomorrow

morning so i can horseback ride before my track meet!!

always,

Claire Jr.

PS i hope i didnt bore you too terribly!

PPS POLE VAULTING IS SOOOOOOOO MUCH FUN!!! PICTURE TO COME SOON

YAY!

for updates :] it makes my exceptionally boring friday evening so much better!

literally, i saw the update and i grinned [and not just because of the picture of Tom riding the mini train].

I even made brownies for this occasion! well, and because it was her birthday last weekend and i forgot *whoops*, shes now officially 8.

My ridings a little [or alot] haywire lately. But, i'll fix it i hope. and then i'll come to longacres, and fix it even more :]

enjoy the nice warmth of floridaa [oh boy, i didn't mean for this one to be a long email, i swear haha]

You were right about me on the update! Between college and my horse at

hi i was just wondering if you can put the following on the website

sometime soon:

I would just like to remind everyone that orders for the sweatshirt,

polo, and jacket were due today, but because not enough people have

placed an order i am extending the deadline to next Friday. So

far i only have 3 orders for the sweatshirt (Danita, Marta, and Annie),

2 for the polo (Claire V and myself), and 3 for the Jacket (Claire V,

Jenn, and myself). i still need sizes form Marta and

Jenn. We need a total of 6 orders for both the sweatshirt and the polo.

If not enough people sign up then i am sorry but we are going to have

to cancel the sweatshirt and polo orders. The jackets do

not have a minimum so we will still be able to get those. So please ask

your parents if you are interested, and then send me an email or post

a message on my facebook wall. My email is on the pen pal

page.

thank you,

Robyn

Em

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I've noticed about birthdays over the years (kind of ironic since I'm only 12, I don't have that many years to recall) is that it doesn't matter how old you're turning, it just matters how much fun you have, so,

HAVE FUN! (and thats an order ^_^).

Have an awesome day!

Em the longacres newbie.

well you'll be happy to know that i didn't hit any curbs or anybody yesterday being my first day driving.  haha and im glad i made u laugh.  and i even drove over the big scaryy bridge to my house.

Alexa

Actually, he has only been mine for... since January

15th I think. I've been riding him since November. In

actuality, even though he like "mine", and I call him

"mine", he is under lease. I am the only one who rides

him, and i do so every day, but we want to make sure

he is the right horse for me, so he will technically

still be under lease until June.

Dublin was born in Ireland in 2000 and came to America

in 2003. He spent about 4 years in Florida working the

Palm Beach Circuit. Dublin then came to Wisconsin in

October of 2007. Then after being worked by the

trainer for a while, she started letting students ride

and announced he was for sale.

My parents and I were like, yes he's awesome, but...

gotta make sure the horse and rider fit, so this six

month thing is kinda like a trial. He's looking good

though and we may go ahead and buy him before the

lease is up. Depends what he and I do this summer.

Hi Tom & Meggie,

Its happening to me! UPDATELESS-NESS-ISM! I check the web site and nothing's happening!
You guys need to get home and UPDATE before we all have a MELT-DOWN from UPDATELESS-NESS-ISM!
Buffalo Billy
Ps looks like another good weekend for skiing, last weekend did Friday night, Saturday afternoon, & Sunday morning! Wooooohoooooooo!

For lent, I gave up my online social networking (facebook and myspace).. so I've been relying on checking the webpage about 50 times a day, in hopes it would be updated... i was incredibly relieved to see you did update it, looks like you had a fun time at the beach !

love, carly

hi tom and meghan

I was trying to get Olefia email address but my coumputer would not let me get it so I was wondering if you could gove me her email address.

thanks

               Griffin

WE NEED THE POKER CHIP JUMP. I LOVE IT!!!!!! IT IS SO COOL!!!!!!!!! And

i can explain why we really need it and how it would be a symbol of

one of the lessons we learn at longacres. and i know the

perfect place for it in the derby courses each year... We could put it

as the standards of the water jump which we all know is a gamble

because you can shave off time if your horse goes over it but

if your horse doesnt like them he/she might refuse so then you wont

make the jump off. Ha see it is a much needed addition to our lovely jump

collection. and meghan we could make the chips fit the

color scheme!

p.s. emilias says that we could make the chips out of old trash can

lids making it cheaper to make

*gasp* the Bahamas!!! I'm jealous *lol*

while I look out the window at the swirling snow drifts then back to the "young" tom cartwheeling in the sand....*sigh*

anyway's...I hope you guy's are having a fun and relaxing time!! :  )

since you've been out of range of getting e-mail's I don't expect a reply to my previous one for awhile but I do have another important question that I totally forgot to mention and that was Is there any possibility that I could bring Majic to camp for my 1 week visit??? At first I was thinking that I was going to leave him home and just ride your horses but then I got thinking that even though its only 1 week it would still give me some time to work with him and get some help, and of course practice with a field of jumps and everything! maybe we could jump a small course! *hint, hint* *lol* Hopefully we will have come along more by then :  ) anyway... I was just wondering what you thought about the idea...

Let me know when you have a chance....

now I must pull on my snow boots and plow my way over to the barn...winter don't ya love it *lol*

       Danita :  )

I suppose R has already written but as mom (and bill payer) I get to write tooÉ

Ginger had her teeth done yesterday with great pleasureÉshe really is a primping princess. They found several hooks and one little wolf tooth that they pulled. She seemed pleased but we didnÕt get to ride her because it was just too damn cold and yucky. We also didnÕt get to watch because of work/schoolÉgotta make the grade somehow.

Quantum didnÕt make it through his appointment because his teeth were so bad and he was so intolerant that he will need to be sedated. In fact the dentist couldnÕt even get in past the front few teeth to check but they were so bad he didnÕt need to look further. The vet was there but she had to sedate several other horses so they asked to do him another timeÉ. We are not sure when that will happen but he knows that Q returns to NY in May.

So the question is when did he last have his teeth done?

I guess this is the problem with sending your horses off to different homes every yearÉ

The good news is that we had already switched him to a baby hackamore (sp) because he wasnÕt tolerating the bit very wellÉso we will continue with that until he gets his teeth doneÉand maybe beyond. He responds well to it. The bad news is that the weather has been awful so we have only done minimal trail riding and 15 minutes in the ring yesterday before we packed it in with frozen fingers and frustrated egosÉHe and Robyn got into a battle of the wills and Robyn decided to walk away rather than beat him to a pulpÉa good decision I think. I suspect a little anger management work for both parties would help. LetÕs hope that the weekend is sunny and nice and that we can get some good rides in. I think we all need it!!!

Another good piece of news is that the first trail ride on him last week he was horribly spooky (with me on him) and the second he was spooky (with Robyn) and the thirdÉhe was calm (with me)Éso we are making progress. Of course he spooked at the porta potty yesterday that is outside of the barn in the exact same place it has been since he arrived and has to walk past any time he leaves his stallÉ.one step forwardÉ two steps back.

The other good news is that Ginger actually trotted through water on the last rideÉshe was walking through puddles but jumping them at a trotÉshe can clear a 6 foot diameter without much problem just so you knowÉbut on the last ride she trotted through the water (good thing since R was bareback and it was a 4 foot puddle!). She is looking greatÉso muscular and lean, the boys love herÉ when she isnÕt bitching at them.

ThatÕs the update.

Hope you are having fun.

Sanna

Hello,

Glad you are having fun in Florida .  I am impressedÉ  I donÕt think I have the courage to do a cartwheel – even if it is on the beach!

Belated Happy Birthday Tom!

Mike

You guys look like you're having a great time. Happy belated Tom. I'm up here in Toronto freezing my butt off inspecting Atlas Storage which just happens to be freezers!!! It is cold. So Olivia is home with Dad for the first time for a whole week and keeps reminding me to E-mail you happy birthday so here it is!!! I have a feeling you will have to dig out Longacres when you get back!

Is the Palm Beach show the same as Ocala or Oscala? That is where our barn has been for the last two months. If it is the same look out for our group from Top of the Line and introduce yourself to her trainer Loretta Mayer. She is always so happy about Olivia's progress when she comes back from you guys. Olivia can't wait to be able to compete at that level. She says Hero is too old and then humphs away!!! So... here I am inspecting frozen food in freezers in Toronto in February to keep my little girl on her horse and the other ready for college. What we won't do for our kids.

Gather those rosebuds!!!

Love ,

Olivia and Susan

Hello Tom and Meghan!

I didn't have a chance this Sunday to send you a happy birthday e-mail!!! so I hope you will except my apologies and except my belated Happy Birthday Wishes!!!

I hope it was good!!! :  )

so....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I'm sorry for my lack of updates...it's just that time of year that nothing much seems to be happening! Today was an absolute gorgeous day the sun was out all day and it was really warm out it made me all the more anxious for spring to arrive!! I took advantage of it and saddled up Majic and although is was a muddy and careful ride because of not to good footing it turned out to be a very good ride! which I was very happy about!! :  )

last week being Presidents week our riding lesson ended up being canceled because the instructor that were taking with has young kids and they were trying to do some more family things, but she said we could still use the arena!!...so we trailered Majic over and I got to ride in the arena we had the whole thing to ourselves!! it was allot of fun! He did well, he was a little wound up but that's to be expected since he was in a strange place and everything!

I do have a horse training question of sorts! :  )...

I have been working with him and trying to get him to relax and slow down and round and use himself more at the trot... He is a Morgan and being so he has a high head set which I know is really never going to be that low...but when I ask him to trot he goes running off and his head immediately goes up and he get's all excited and hollow backed... he can trot this way forever and never seem to slow down...this has been somewhat frustrating to me at times...although I try to be as patient as I can! :  ) but recently I was reading somewhere and someone had written in with a similar problem (she had an Arabian who was excitable and carried his head very high) and the lady mentioned in her answer that some horses do not warm up in trot well and they actually do better if they are warmed up at the walk and then worked at a slow canter for awhile to warm them up and bring them into a better frame and then they are capable of performing at the trot better! When I rode today I took her suggestion and tried walk, and then canter, and then trot and it seemed to really help, I don't know if today was just a good riding day so I will have to see on another day... but do you think this sounds like something that would work or is it not good to warm up like that and should I be trotting first??? I would be up to some suggestion and help from the expert!! :  )

Well I hope you are both doing good!

ttyl,

         Danita :  )

I hope your having a good time on your vacation!!  I can't wait to find out more about the new horses for this summer.  An enjoying your birthdays.

Hiya Tom,

Em here just wanting to say:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I've noticed about birthdays over the years (kind of ironic since I'm only 12, I don't have that many years to recall) is that it doesn't matter how old you're turning, it just matters how much fun you have, so,

HAVE FUN! (and thats an order ^_^).

Have an awesome day!

Em the longacres newbie.

Hi Tom and Meghan!

Just wanted to send you both a birthday card.... though you might not get it until you come back from your road trip.  It should be attached to this message as a pdf file(just email me if it doesn't work, and I will try to send it again).  Enjoy!

Ofelia(and Merlin)

Just a quick Happy Birthday note for Tom!! Hope you guys are enjoying

your trip away!

Have a super duper happy Birthday, Tom!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!! the scalping sounds like a lot of fun!!!!

anyways have a good trip. your ponies are happy and wish you happy

birthday as well. They are secretly plotting to run away and

join you on that lovely vacation in the HOT Bahamas instead of freezing

philly and i will hitch a ride if all plans of cantering on water go

well some of the details of surface tension being able to

hold the weight of a couple large animals are still being worked out.

anyways if we manage to borrow the power of walking on water i will make

sure to bring you a couple birthday brownies.

wow that was an interesting email,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Love,

robyn and the ponies

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY TOM!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I've got one fuzzy one of me on him that I took

on my phone today. We've never shown together so

there's not like a bunch of frames of us. I've got a

few of him tho if you'd like.

He's an Irish Sport Horse, he's sorrel with two white

socks on his right side and an irregular stripe. He's

16.2 hh, and is a big mover. He's got a very high

amplitude trot, followed by a lovely canter. Powerful

hind end, high jumper. Competed at Palm Beach as an A

class jumper.

Let me know if there's anything else!

Do you like the scalping story? Meghan goes nuts when she gets scalped. She thinks it is about the most exciting thing she gets to so all year!

wow! have fun at the bahamas im jealous :] and its okay, we dont really expect and update everyday, we're just wishful thinkers :p its like when you open your fridge and stare at it for no reason- or for a slice of cake to magically appear, then leave empty handed. I'd be glad to send the update around. and we were definatly going to say happy birthday but it got lost in all our other thoughts. so HAPPY ONE DAY EARLY BIRTHDAY TOM!

HELLO TOM & MEGHAN

THIS IS HANNAH AND ANNIE!!! reporting from annies computer :]

We are having a super fantastic day, even though we dont get to muck stalls at LA!

We made smores [in the oven]! because we decided we had to since we are camp friends, and we never got any at camp! We walked allll the way to the little store to buy marshmellows, and we saw a tub a sprinkles, and hannah got really excited. But then we learned it was frosting that came with a little packet of sprinkles, that was a sad. We also got asked if we were sisters by this funny little lady who worked at the counter. She was like "sister or friend? because of your braces u look very similar." in her little accent that she had. Then she continued talking to us about braces [she had them too] for like 10 minutes, even when we were trying to walk out of the store! She asked if mine were pink for valentines day, and questioned hannah very confussled as to why hers weren't colorful. Oh, and in case you were wondering, her braces were red because 'they matched her lips' and she got 5 teeth pulled out. Hannah also discovered fried pork rinds/skins for the first time - she wasn't very pleased with them. We havn't done much else.... but sit and say "i wish i were at LA" over and over. guess what?! only 3 months 9 days until we come to cammp!!! Oh yes, and another thing, i decided hannah will never ever see me when im NOT covered in horse hair, i picked her up directly after my lesson. I decided she'll never get the privilage of seeing me unhorsey. toughluck. So... we are running out of things to say....

AND ANOTHER THING. we fully

expect an UPDATE. really, hannah looks FIVE TIMES A DAY. jeesh what a

loser- just kidding i think i may check like every hour when i get home

from school and sometimes once in the morning :] haha. anywhoo- regan

couldn't come, because i dont know- she doesn't love us enough??

actually i think she has pony club, pshh. Hannahs laughing at how detailed my emails really are- now she knows why my emails are called novels. Okay, so maybe you actually have stuff to do outside reading our email... so maybe we should end it. But dont think you'll get away without having to look at some pictures! [including the first ever, bremmy spaz attacks caught on film!]

-annie and hannah.

p.s. i had the exact thing for lunch today that i ate when i was at LA! coinkydink.

thats good bye in japanese.

and in piglatin.

and hannahs dad just came!!!!! :[

Happy Birthday Tom! Sounds like a great birthday weekend in the Bahamas! Sure wish I could be there for a Nippers party!

I am on vacation, cross-country skiing in Washington state so I didn't check the website until now. But, since late is better than never, I would like to wish Meghan a VERY HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

Rhiannon G.

You have heard from Robyn that Q had a very successful chiropractor appt. I wish I had video taped the session because you would have been amazed. If you were at all skeptical it would have confirmed the valueÉwhat a different beast.  He was in fact locked up on the left hind and fore as we suspected. She did some fascia stimulation and then some massage/adjusting. He went from stiff and non compliant to totally flexible. He was a hurting pup. We have been trotting him for two days and he feels much more supple. I am hoping we can jump him a bit this weekend but we are supposed to get snow and ice tomorrow. Yesterday he was raring to go and wanted to canter off with Ginger but he has to wait one more day. He will get adjusted again in a month and then we will see from there. She usually recommends once a month or 6 weeks depending on how he holds the adjustment. He may be not need anything if we can tone him and keep him supple. We are doing stretches and she taught us some massage to help keep things mobile.

Ginger, meanwhile, is getting a bit testy though sweet once caught. She sure doesnÕt like to leave her food. I am sure when the weather gets warm she will be moody but we have learned a few tricks for dealing with her now.  She got her new shoes the other day and is quite the prima Dona with her spiffy hooves. I swear she loves the pedicure.

Robyn and I are both enjoying the longer days. It will be nice when it is also warmer. We had one day up in the 60s last weekend and had to strip to tank topsÉbut then it was back to frozen fingers and toes. Oh for an indoor arena!

Hope you are having a good trip.

I am jealous, all I am doing is seeing kids with Influenza and it isnÕt pretty. Robyn was in bed for 5 days straight! She was a lot better patient than the college students are.

Sanna

Hey guys!

I hope you're having a great trip!!! I'm sooo happy right now because

i just had a really good lesson with Mignight and we finally did a

course with THREE rollbacks!! it wasn't just a line/line/line course!

yessssss! Also i've been having this ongoing argument on facebook with this

guy about whether or not riding is a sport, and i think i finally won

because he ended up with nothing better to say than "your last name

sounds like pasta" LOL what an idiot.

Ok well thats all~

Hannah

Meghan,

Yes, he's my horse. lol. I always forget to clairify

human from horse. I forget not everyone knows what i

mean. but then again, im the one who clucks and kisses

to my car. lol

Hi Meghan-

Happy Belated Birthday!! - I know I'm a day late but I hope you had a

great day! All of the details about pay and dates are still fine with

me.

Past this, I still have no summer plans - its all in the works, so as

my

plans finalize we can talk about me staying a little longer - I just

don't

have any idea where I'll be working this summer - but I (unfortunately)

have to do something internship/school related at some point.

Anytime later tonight (I work till about 8ish) or all day tomorrow

would

work to talk on the phone and confirm some of the plans.

Talk to you soon.

Thanks,

Lillian

Hey guys

Hi Megan and Tom!!

I wanted to wish a very happy birthday to Megan, with lots of presents, good cake, and joyful laughs! A lot of people from Longacres have their birthdays in February, including me. I guess most of us are all humanitarian Aquariuses. Im kidding, but I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I am upstate right now, with no school for the whole week- I am skiing and having fun. Of course the homework load that our teachers gave us is tremendous, but we have to deal with it. Anyway, I showed my parents the updated Meet the Horses Page, and both of them loved it. They wanted to thank you for the great work you put in, and I want to thank you too. I have to say, Merlin is very good looking in all of the pictures. Any new news on the white pony? I'm wondering how he is. Well, all is well down here in NYC, including Myra, she went on a nice cruise trip down to Mexico for the winter break. I have also been talking to Alexa, and she is doing great too, and we had some good laughs talking to each other because Alexa is trying to pick out a show name for Leo, and she is also having some trouble and asked for my advice. We both looked up show names, and found funny one on the web. It was "No Batteries Included." We laughed our heads off, especially when we tried to say "Alexa Riddle on No Batteries Included." Oh, gosh we had fun. And if you have any advice or a good show name in mind, then just please let Alexa, or me, or both of us know. And by the way, how is everyone in East Aurora? I hope its nice over there, not too cold or anything. I miss everyone so badly. I was dusting off my beautiful trophy from the Derby, well, the summer series shows after the Derby, and I remembered that day and it just made me miss Longacres more, and made me also really proud of myself. And, so again- Happy Birthday Megan, and ill write back... soon! Bye

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGHAN!!!!! have a wonderful birthday! both ponies are

doing good. Quantum had a chiropractor appointment yesterday and is

incredibly happy. I swear he was smiling when i turned him

out afterwards. So i shall let you know what happens when i ride him

again on Tuesday. Ginger is the most amusing pony i have every seen. The

ground was soaked in the ring the other day, so we went

on the trails and lets just say she had a major case of ADD and

spookiness. Look at that tree let me turn my head and walk over to it never

mind the path that we are supposed to follow. oh OK mom ill

walk back over now.. Oh MY GOD WHAT IS THAT (accompanied by jumping a

little and spreading her legs out i shall impersonate her for you when i

come to camp..) anyways it was like that for a little

and then the big accomplishment of the day..... drumroll please..... we

walked through water!!! anyways i thought i would just give you a

little update today on your silly little ponies who have

personalities that make me laugh everyday.

Have an amazing birthday

Greetings Tom and Meghan,

I heard your plee for good news, and I'm sorry to say I don't have any fantastic news, but I just felt like saying hi. Well, in my riding world, things have been a little disrupted, but not by anything important in other people's perspectives. The school pony I always ride, a little arabian/cross named Scout, isn't really owned by the school at my barn, and his owners are possibly going to take him to the Hamptons in April. It's really upsetting considering I only found out a couple days ago, but my instructor, Rachael, says it might not happen. But I think it will because I've learned in the horse world, might is a yes.

Other than that saddening news, I've become a Longacres junky. Ofelia tells me everything exciting, and I can't wait! Only..... um.... 6 more months. Oh boy, that's awhile...... sad sad =( How are all the Longacres horses doing in their winter homes? How are Star and Mer-Mer?

Glad all is well,

Em

Dear Tom & Meghan,

In case you are wondering why you haven't heard from andrea, she got

in trouble and is banned from the computer till Feb. 29. She is

missing the website terribly. Oh well, she needed to learn a lesson

(again). All is well with us. Andrea has been snowboarding quite a

bit. She did very well on her recent report card. We just came home

from bridgman's Cali was a good girl jaclyn steele

Came with us. She Copper pony and we ended up at Pasquale's. All in

All a good day. Talk to you soon

Hi Tom and Meghan!

How is East Aurora?  Snowy and cold?  We got some snow here but it all melted.  Anyway, have you heard any updates on Merlin at Quakerfield?   Does he have a thick winter coat?  I bet he would be adorable with one!  I am still jealous of David.

By the way, I have got to tell you about his little pony at the barn where I ride.  His name is Paddington, and he is probably about the size of Dakota Gold(maybe a little smaller) and is roan.  Paddington is very cute, and has the funniest jump!  You would never guess he could jump.  Maybe I will try to send you come pictures of him...

Ofelia

Ha, your news post today was a surprise! That was nice of your to post about HannahÕs email. Only one email to you guys all week.  I canÕt imagine that!  If I were a student and not a parent, I would probably be emailing a few times a week. J I would probably send things likeÉ

Hannah and I both had a riding lesson today. Due to the frozen ground, we were in the indoor ring in close quarters (12 or so horses in an areas I would guess to be 60 x 100 feet).  Anyway, the ring was divided in two and they had a single 3Õ6Ó vertical jump setup and a few of the most advanced riders/horses jumping it and also trying 4Õ. At close quarters, I really learned how fast and on their hind end the horses had to be.  I know you know this but to me I never quite realized the power and speed it takes to go over the higher jumps when viewing such jumps on an outdoor show field. I think I will notice now though! Anyway it was impressive – thought I would share.

Mike

hello tom and meghan!!

ur update made me sad :[

So i decided i haaad to email! Even though i dont have anymore updates even remotely interesting :] Bremsstrahlung is doing okay. I could probably take her to a show soon, if february wasn't so booked! Its ashame i have an interschool show next weekend, because i think there are a bunch of schooling shows that weekend. Shes actually gotten a little lazy jumping [maybe i can cut down on the lunging.] i Lunge her in side reins before every ride [per her owners advise]. But shes still really forehandy, although sometimes she lifts herself up and its AMAZING. So, im still lookin' at ads and such, and talking to a lady at my barn at the possiblity of leasing a horse she might buy. So basicly theres nothing new since last time i emailed haha, well i dont think so anyway. I havn't trailered Brem anywhere since i took her to the shnazzy barn (which im still in schock about how good she was ahaha). I hope everythings fine and dandy up at LA. Oh and to answer the questionesk thing you posted an update back or so. I correspond with Claire Vovo :) and of course i correspond with regan about 39840 times a day! I exchange messages with hannah and katharine too, and anyone else from proclinics i feel like corresponding with that day.

I hope you guys are enjoying snowmobiling! We dont have any snow here, but thats okay because when it snows i cant really ride, which is obnoxious. Its been freezing rain so the ring was yucky all week, but i rode bremmy yesterday and she was still calm and collected (minus a few lunging objections haha) Okay, i wont bore you anymore with my updateless email!! haha, back to uploading my recent videos onto photobucket.

Awww I'm sorry about no emails!!  I've been busy trying to spend all my free time figuring out a good show name for my new pony!!!!  Meghan, I don't know how you find the perfect one for each horse at longacres.  Well, back to "work" it's veryyyy hard.  Happy belated Valentines Day!!

Alexa and Leo Pony :)

Hi there Tom & Meghan!!!

Nothing new... just thought i'd email because i haven't in so long! i

attached a couple pictures because they're the only ones of me riding

since the september ones i sent you... really boring i know but my

non-horsey friend took them from like 100 feet away so what can you expect??

BUT you will notice that i got a new helmet! yay! And no Rj hasn't

learnt to put his ears forward... that's "Dancer" who looks just like

RJ. (only not as cute, of course!) And the little furry pony that i'm

leading is Taffy :]

I still don't have any pictures of me riding at the new barn. I really

should though. I'm starting to ride a pony named Midnight more and

more (i think i've told you about her... she's dapple gray 6yrs old and

jumps like hoho) i'm probably going to take her to a schooling show at

the end of march and we'll do some hunter classes. Yay i finally get to

show!!!

I love love love being an assistant instructor. It's kind of

depressing though because the kids who have been riding for 6 months can barley

trot (some can't even post yet) and so it makes me think "ok if this is

where they are after 6 months, were will i be in 3 years when i have

to go to college?" maybe finally jumping 3 ft? It's really frustrating

going from a very pushing barn (were i started) to a very take-it-slow

barn. At my old barn i moved to a more advanced class after a few

beginner lessons because it fit our schedule better and i learned a LOT

faster by being with better riders and doing harder stuff, even if i

wasn't ready for it. I got to start jumping after about six or seven

lessons... and here at this barn people don't start jumping for 2 or 3 years,

and when they do, they're stuck with x-rails for 2 or 3 more years. I

think i'll go insane if i stay here too long. UGH.

Sooo coming back to happyland... i LOVED looking through the recent

albums of my two favorite LA ponies, Merlin and Hoho!!! They're so

photogenic, they really do take the best pictures! cuties :]

Wow i just realised how long this is. I guess it makes up for all the

weeks that i haven't emailed! But i don't want to take up you're time.

Bye bye!

hannah~

P.s. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!  Have a great day everybody!!!

hi!!  What have you guys been up to?  I am really busy with school.  I was on your website and saw the pen pal page.  I went there and looked up Ofelia.  We are now writing back and forth and I love it.  I have been waiting a long time to get her address and now I have it!!!!  Also I was on your new "Meet the Horses" page and my old computer wouldn't load the pictures.  But then all of the sudden I was at Bobert reading what you had written about him and this pictures pops up and it is of me and Bobert!!!  I was so excited!!!!  I still am!!!  I have to show my parents it.  The pictures on that page are really big.  I like it.  My dad is home so I am going to go show him.  Bye!!!  Thank You!!!

"Hi my name is David and I'm addicted to longacres"

just thought i'd let you know. Igot bored of looking at the longacres website for the ninth time today so i decided to email you guys. NEWS: the construction man has been working heavily on the barn, finishing the apartment (apartment makes it seem small but dont get me wrong it's not) and they put in a third floor and five new bedrooms. We plan to move in the begining of April, SUPER EXCITING!! So I was a little dissapointed in Merlin today, I was walking him around , pony rides at my cousins birthday, and I think he got bored but he decided to take a chunk out of my arm. It bruised and bled a little, but it was okay and i forgave him because i think he was bored silly pony. Otherwise he is doing great and everyone at Quakerfield loves him. Oh we dont really want to get rid of him, but he is yours and he has to go back to camp. I'm super really extremly excited about camp and the shows!! Well email me back!!

David

p.s. how is ZANY im going crazy i need to know!!!!

Hi Tom and Meghan-

I can't believe how long it took me to get back to you guys about this

job

- This semester has been so busy, and its been extremely hard trying to

figure out what I'm doing this summer. Although I don't have all of my

details figured out, I would like to accept the job from June 1st -

18th,

if the offer is still there. I hope this still works out - It would be

great to come back for a few weeks this summer!

Hope to hear from you soon,

Lillian

Hey Tom and Meghan--

Yea I just checked the website before I checked my e-mail!!! It was

cool, I'll have to show the pictures to my mom. I have a couple more

descriptions for horses, so here they are.....

Brownie--

Brownie is perhaps THE GREATEST horse to EVER come to Longacres.

Brownie was my favorite horse when I came to mother-daughter week in 2005,

and was the first horse I had ever shown, and was the first horse I

jumped in my life. Brownie is a very patient horse with even the most

beginner riders, and a really sweet horse no matter what. I have often heard

Brownie referred to as "bomb-proof" and I completely agree. "Brown Cow"

is a favorite horse of many past and current students.

Horatio--

Though I only rode Horatio a few times, he was a perfect gentleman and

quite sweet. Horatio was very good on the "Trail Ride Through Hell"

when an unexpected thunderstorm rolled in the middle of a ride around the

property. He was much calmer than many of the other horses. Hoho is a

really pretty thoroughbred, like many of the horses at Longacres.

OMGG leaving nooooo what am I going to do!!!!!!!!!!  Maybe I'll grab a book or something.  hahaa well actually i am reading a book on the best show ever house.  And of course my new ponyyyy!!  He's amazingggg so being veryy nice to my pa.  and write about all the rest of the horses i haven't gotten too if my novels aren't too long.  Anyways, have a great time on your little vacation.

Alexa :/ (happy=pony   sad=no updates)

Hi Tom and Megan! Well, I finally found some time to write and talk a little bit about the horse world. I would like to thank you for brining on these projects for your website and re-creating all the pages that were sort of maybe, err, out-dated (??). I'm kidding, but I cant' wait to see more pictures and descriptions of all the horses, especially Merlin! And, speaking on account of Merlin, I have a description below about him. I really miss him and that energy of his. But anyway, I think you are already aware of the wonderful news! That Alexa got her very own pony! We both cried and talked to each other from happiness! Her pony is adorabbleee. I had a lesson on Saturday, with Myra again, and we both had a blast! It was really fun, and plus we got to go on the day of her birthday, so she was very excited. I am gald that everyone is good there, it seems like you guys are having so much fun especially snow-mobiling! I'm sorry for writing such a short email, but time's running out and I have to half-heartedly finish my homework. I promise to write back soon, but of course I always check the Longacres web-updates every day. And here's the descrition of Merlin below:

        Merlin's Description

Merlin isn‰Ûªt just that normal little white Arab pony that is a member of the Longacres crew. No, he‰Ûªs much more than that. Merlin has captured many rider‰Ûªs hearts, I am sure of that, as well as capturing mine too. He is sweet and has a very good temper, as well as being able to stand out from the crowd. That horse is willing to work himself off, and is certainly a great ride. His gaits are lovely, especially his canter. His canter is most definitely comfortable and smooth, and you wouldn't want him to stop cantering. His lead changes are very nice, he almost always gets them right, and you just need to work with him and be there with him for the changes. Merlin jumps very well, he has plenty of energy because of his Arabian descent. He always ends up nicely in all his jumping photos, his mane glowing in the sun light and his tail flowing out... Well, that‰Ûªs Mer-pony for you, and of course a great horse like that needs his own club, the ILMFC. Well, we need to honor him in some way or another. Merlin is pretty good at capturing people‰Ûªs attention, even before I came to Longacres, and I was looking up the Longacre‰Ûªs website, I saw the pictures and descriptions of Merlin, and I immediately feel in love with his looks. Then, when I arrived at Longacres, I feel in love to everything there is about Merlin. He truly is one of a kind, and One in a Million.

Marta

hey Tom and Meghan!

I was soooo excited to see that the picture for Rocky on the new Meet

the Horses page is of Rocky and I!!! I know you guys were looking for

descriptions for the horses, so here are a couple.

Rocky--

Rocky is possibly the BEST horse i have EVER ridden. He is calm and

safe but still a challenge. Rocky has great barn manners and besides

being a bit "rowdy" when the horses are brought in, Rocky is AWESOME! yea i

know that this is little repetitious, but i just don't know what i can

say about such a great horse! Well here goes (again). Rocky is a great

hunter, both jumping and on the flat. From what i hear about his past,

Rocky is also a terrific jumper. This horse is great at anything you

put his (and your!) mind to, as i found out when we did the "round

robin" three-day eventing. Rocky is as perfect as a horse can be. Rockster

is a bit more of a challenge for smaller riders, as he is a big boy!!!!

Zanzibar (Zany)--

Oh, what can a girl say about Zany!! Zany was my favorite horse in the

2006 season, and i ended up taking her home over that winter. Zanzibar

has okay barn manners and "floats" as she canters. A great little

hunter. However, as my mom and i soon learned, Zany has a little of what i

like to call the "little chestnut mare" attitude, a "syndrome" in which

the horse or pony turns their back to you and lays their ears flat on

said mare's head. Depending on the severity of the "syndrome", the mare

will either try to kick at a person or just look at you menacingly.

Fortunately, Zanzibar has the latter severity. Zanzibar is a great little

horse overall, though she has a mind of her own, and she sometimes

decides to just stop at jump if she feels you won't make her jump.

Zanzibar knows how to act in a show ring, and is all but flawless when the

metaphorical lights are on her.

Omggggg I missed the videos their awsome!!!! The horses page is soo

awsome

how could I miss me and myy pony!! ahhh

Writings not as bad as reading but still not fun, but then again it's

horses

were talking about. O crap that reminded me I have to go read a book

for

stupid English class. urgg

Sounds like you have a lot of work to do...... And I thought moving

all my

videos to the video place was hard work. Gooooooooooood LUCKKKKKK

Don't

kill your eyes too much you have to see the picture of my ponyyyyy.

Brown nosing what are you talking about?? :)

:) Alexa *

ha, ha,

de-ice ...yes now I remember that is the word I was looking for!! *duuhhh* and you would think

with the way the weather has been around here that's what I would have said...

but I had one of those um... shall we say blonde moments!! *lol*

anyway... did you guy's get a ice storm up your way??

we got lots of freezing rain up here and everything is totally glazed...

with the way things are right now we don't even have to go down to our little

skating area... we just shuffle to and from the barn and that's fine *lol*

no seriously everything is covered in at least a 1/2 an inch of ice, and it makes even

the simple task of walking to and from places very interesting! I haven't fallen yet..but Derrick

did a couple times today... I warned him *tsk,tsk* :  ) what can I say boy's will be boy's :  )

I looked at the in progress "Meet the Horse Page"!

I like the new layout with the big pictures of all the horses..

it makes them all easier to find! and Imagine my surprise and

delight when I noticed Majic's name under Privately Owned horses...

and the good feeling it is to be included!!

Looking at all the photo's make me wish it was camp time right now!!

one of the ones I especially liked was the one of Laura on Rocky going over

the very pretty red and white flower jump at a show... it probably means more

to me because I rode Rocky and he was one of my favorites and he is performing so

handsomely in that photo!!

ha, ha, that's funny about the horses tucking their knees but I

assure you, it had absolutely nothing to do with me... you just have

some very nice horses who know their jobs and know how to take care

of a beginner rider such as myself!!

well I better be going...

ttyl....

Danita :  )

My mom was telling me that you guys might need my help in the spring with getting all of the jumps out for the spring lessons. I'm willing to help you. Just tell me when you would like me to help you and I will be there! – Casey

Hey Tom and Meghan,

I remembered that you wanted people to send in pictures of cool jumps, so I got a few together to send to you. Hope all is going well!

Claire

Meghan,

OMG OMG OMG OMG I love Star's page Meghan it's deffinantly the best!!

Tom,

Happy Birthday Tom whenever it is...I hope you get your "super-duper camera" (Hint Hint)

I'll send in more horse information when some of the new pages come up!!  Keep working Meghan it's looking great!!

Q is one of those great horses.  He could take someone around their first jumper course giving them the taste of what a very fast jumper round in the Puddle Jumpers.  But then he can step up (if you get impulsion and respect) and do the highest height at the derby.  I've rode him a few times and it's unbelievable to feel the power under you.  Especially at shows he knows his job and when that buzzer goes off you know he's ready.  But then again he can be lazy if you don't get him going.  He does have some quirks (leaps), he just wants to keep you on your toes making sure your the boss.  He's pretty tolerant in the barn too with all the commotion.

Ginger is one of the cutest ponies I ever met!!  I love her show name Meghan, it fits her, its perfect.  But looks are deceptive she's a little temperamental...especially in the barn and around her stall.  But her temperament in the barn is very different then when your in the saddle.  She has great form over jumps and her knees are almost perfectly square.  She defiantly not lazy in her stride getting striding that large TB are suppose to get.  She usually takes the long spot so you really have to sit back to add a stride.  She's pretty good in the jumps too.  She has adapted her own style of "aero dynamics" to loose that one second on a jumper round (her ears).  She's on of my favorite ponies on the trail.  She occasionally jumps the water but it's kind of fun.  She's a great pony to ride!

Star is one of the greatest ponies in the whole entire pony and horse world.  She has one white spot on her face that is the cutest and her white legs and splash on her left side are even better.  Although her legs are very annoying to keep clean, she always has to look her best.  Obviously she is my all time favorite pony at camp.  She does have some issues with being a tad overweight but it's under control and she enjoys her nicknames aka "Fatty" and something with a G but you'd have to ask Robyn that one.  She can teach a beginner to trot-canter-or even jump.  She can take someone around their first hunter course or jumper course but then again do the highest jumpers.  She has taught me so much!!  The first year I came for two weeks a few days before the derby and the big fair.  I rode mostly Star and by the time the last day of the fair (yes it took that long) we really figured each other out.  She's a bit stubborn and you really have to get after her.  This past year at Hasty Hills, one of the shows Star and I won, one of the hardest courses I've ever done!!  And got champion in Puddle Jumpers.  Then on the same day one both the Pony hunters jumping and got champion.  This just shows that she's one of the most versatile ponies picking up her knees, looking cute, pretty lead change for the hunters to a fast (only if you get her going) pony that will jump and turn when you ask.  She can do the higher jumps if you want her too and I jumped three feet on her my highest ever my first summer.  She's pretty sweet in the barn but has gotten some bad habits but you can't blame her for always wanting a treat.  Sorry for the novel but I'll sum up Star in 15 words, no less.  Star is one of the greatest ponies in the whole entire pony and horse world.

Well, you don't have to post them I wrote some long novels but their all great and a few words just doesn't work.  I also have some great new to share!! .....

-      Alexa

Hey Tom and Megan!

I don't know if you have heard yet, but Corona got a leg injury a couple weeks ago and will most likely not be showing this year. All we know so far is that he tore a muscle in his upper left hind leg. You might see him just hangin out at a couple of the shows if he is up to it but right now it doesn't look like he will not be doing any jumping at all this year but I might do a few flat classes with him. But I still plan on competing with Zip and you might see me doing Jumpers with him this year! We'll see!

P.S. Did you like the gift i got you from my trip to Europe?

Hope you have a great snowmobiling season!

                             Casey Puffer

Hello Tom and Meghan!

I just wanted to say hi!... and drop you a note.... I haven't written in awhile it seems! :  )

My dad and I got a chuckle out of Meghan unique way to "texture" the driveway to the barn so It's not

slippery.. *lol*

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who likes "toy's"

I love to ride around our farm on our 4-wheeler that we got not so long ago!!!

and while out riding through our woods last week and enjoying the winter scenery, my brother and I found

this really neat place in our creek were we could ice skate!!

we were really excited about that! and had lots of fun!

things thawed out for a couple day's here... so were waiting for another "deep freeze"

so we can go out again!!!

ahhhh the simple way's of country life (with a few extra's *lol*) I wouldn't trade it for anything!! :  )

Things have been going good...

we are still settling in at the new barn... it's now been 4 weeks that we've been taking lessons!...

Derrick has improved allot in that very short period of time... of course not with out some grumbles

about rather staying home than riding but I am convincing him that all the hard work will pay off *wink*

The last couple of weeks I've been riding a horse named Reggie... and if I said the last horse I rode was tall

than Reggie is Gigantic *lol* he is 18 hands that is like sooo HUGE to me!! :  ) But he is a Belgian horse so that's pretty normal for him :  )... I like him allot (of course not more than Majic but in some ways he reminds me of him... like he acts all cranky but he's actually a big sweetheart!!)

and then this week I actually trailered Majic over!! He did great! He loaded on the trailer wonderful *sigh*

which I am thrilled about... after all my hours of working with him to load on.. it's nice to finally see some of the benefits!

we got there and unloaded... he was a little antsy, nothing bad... just wondering where he was and what was going on... so we saddled up and went inside and  walked him around a couple of times and then hopped up on him...we worked on walk/trot

the lady just sort of wanted to see him and everything...I think he did really good considering he's pretty much not been ridden all winter and that was the first time I've really gotten to ride him in good footing since November and everything...

I guess she didn't really care for him... she said a few negative things... but I'm trying to over look that...

I know he's green... but I knew that when I bought him! and I can't expect more out of him then he has to offer because he is just learning allot of stuff! so I am trying to be positive and look at how much he's improved in the short time I've had him!!

sorry for my rant *huff* :  ) I felt the need to share my frustration with somebody who would understand!! :  )

------------------------------

so on  totally different note.... allot of times I wait of couple of day's and check the news to Longacres so I get not 1 but several updates at a time! and I noticed the quiz you had posted.... I know most everybody has already responded! Oliva's was interesting!! :  ) I never would have thought of an answer like that *boinks head* duh! :  )

anyway here's my description:

So the formal name for this item??!! I don't want to say for sure but I

would call it a measuring tape/wheel

and I believe in LongAcres case it would be used for measuring the exact

distance between fences for finding the correct striding to the jumps!

of course when I was at LA I was (and still am a beginner!) so I never

actually got into allot of that! I was working on more simplistic, beginner stuff!

Ha, Ha....

Hopefully I can get more into that when I return to LA next year *hint* hint* :  )

------------------------------------------

I also wondered if you could pass a hello along to Maggie from Texas!!

YaY! to another working girl!!  Helping on a Ranch must be allot of fun!! :  )

well....

I better be going

Hope your both doing well!!

Danita :  )

I come to announce a new found discovery!

i was googling 'horse jump exercises', and guess what picture popped up under images!

emmy and quantum jumping the *big* jump! as the 9th picture!

i thought that was pretty interesting!

you've made it far and wide-spread around google. :]

p.s. Bremmy is the most confusing horse ever. its so frustrating! She was GREAT today, and this was my 4th time riding her after twoish weeks off! annnd i didn't even lunge her in side reins before hand [which have proved to be just what the doctor ordered for her]. I was jumping her over a vertical, yes a vertical. It was two feetish - 2'3. Oh my goodness, she was collected and forward, but not running through me [im sure the pelham helps though]. She was so floaty and responsive *sigh*  i wish she could be like this MOST of the time, shes been good these past few days though. Now wasn't that a change in tone from last week! My mom says brems just acting like a teenager :p even though shes only 7.

This only makes the idea of getting a new horse even more impossible to make. i wish she could just make up her mind! Its days like these that make me say "heck, she could do anything i want her too, now!" errr! But I'm thinking of maybe leasing a good 'ol equitation horse out, considering this (idealy anyway) would be my first 'real' year as a rider on the circuit (im hoping.) but its also my last year to be a junior rider (thats kinda' a scary thought!... at least i think it'd be my last year? i dont know all the technicalities). This way, i'd have more time to find a great horse next year. And i could get a horse without needing (well...wanting :p ) to show it right away. And you never know maybe i'll get showing equitation entirely out of my system. But we'll see what happens! Im rambling!

Now go google "horse jump exersices" !! and be please with the effectiveness of your website!

-the novelist. Annie

I've been slacking on my emails this winter so I'm making up for it this week.  My teachers are deciding to be nice and not give much homework except for the occasional get grade sheets signed which have been all great!! :)  I'm not lying!!  And besides the heart attack I almost had in English today.  Which of course is first period at like 8ish way too early so I was sorta day dreaming (thats actually my best class :) and she said that we have to read SIX books this summer and write things on them.  I'm going to die!!  Thank god theres horses and camp to save me if I ever bother to do it.  haha  Meghan, I thought you might like to laugh at me this summer when I have to read those tortureous books. :) I can't believe it's only halfway through the year....... :(

Anyways, enough about school.  I'm talking to Marta now, she says hi and

OKASZMAR: tell them i really miss them and tat i hope

OKASZMAR: that they survive the rwally cold winter and to not get to crazy while snow mobling

OKASZMAR: yep, tats all

Well, thats my update for the day :)  Waiting for a nice good update!!!  I think I have hit the refresh button at like a bagillion(bigger then the biggest number ever) times.  oo ya Did I ever send the videos from our last show??  I can't remember....

Well, now I'm going as Marta said "wow, ur whole life is planned" because American idol and that new lie show is on later nd i cant miss it :)).

Alexaa

i cant write a really long letter until friday, but i do have a

question. i have been looking at a boarding school for next year in virginia

called foxcroft. they have a riding program and i was

wondering if you know anything about it. it looks pretty nice from the

website and they have wonderful facilities but that doesnt always mean

they have good instruction. i was just wondering if you

had heard anything about it on your many trips down to florida. i know

you probably havent, but there is no harm in asking and people surprise

me all the time. – Robyn

hey Tom & Meghan---

well i hadn't checked the site in a couple days (computer problems) so

i figured it would be cheating to say what i thought the tape measure

was for (though I'm glad to say i was correct in my guess). I can't wait

to be back at LA!! um, well sorry this is so short but i have to watch

the State of the Union address for my homework. bye!!

--Laura

Hi Meghan,

I am sure Hannah had a good answer too since she spends so much time

watching and critiquing youtube videos of people jumping.

Actually only part of the family went somewhere - nothing too exciting.

Judy, my wife, took Hannah on a homeschool field trip to

Charlottesville to

see Monticello (Thomas Jefferson) plus a couple other historic places.

I

stayed home with my son and 3-yr-old Abby. Abby kept me busy Friday

night

and although I saw the quiz shortly after it was posted, I could not

easily

reply since Abby would not go to sleep (even though it was 11:30)

because

she had to sleep with me and would not go to sleep until I was in bed

AND

turned the light off. She has Grrrr.. :-) Hannah got home very late

Saturday and got up early Sunday to work at the new barn and then

followed

me to the other barn to muck stalls which she could not do on Saturday

while

I got to do a fun make-up lesson on my favorite horse (gosh I sound

like an

LA student don't I!)...so a long day before finally getting to the

computer...

Have a good day!

Mike

Well, I am extremely bored.  We don't have school today because it's the 50th anniversary of LEGOS.  Just kidding teachers convention or I have no idea.  haha but Google has a cool Google picture thing.  I can't go to the barn till later because stupid NJ can't have people off on the same days.  Even spring break, or Easter brake whatever is weeks different between different schools.  I think they enjoy torturing us.  Plus theres no one to talk to because everyone's at school.

It is 176 days, 23 hours, 13 minutes and 24 seconds till I'm at camp.

I purposely stopped it at 13 because finally HOUSE is back on tomorrow!!! YAYY.  There's a new character named 13.  But the writers need to stop striking...  And of course NASCAR starts the 17th  soooo exciting.  I think camp should start tomorrow instead, so then I wouldn't have to wait so long!!

Well, that enough for now...probably more later!!!

Verry bored Alexa (yes I actually know verry is not spelled with two R's?).

Hi Tom and Meghan~

I was away this weekend and i get back to find a quiz that's already

been answered!!! booo. ok well i'll wright a response anyway.

It's tape to measure the striding between jumps, and symbolizes

longacres's specialness because... longacres pays close attention to every

detail of everything it's envolved with. So a tape measurer that's labled

down to the very last inch for something as simple yet as important as

measuring strides sums up longacres's unique perfection that you don't

find anywhere else (therefore making this the symbol of longacres's

specialness).

....the picture on the website!

Its a measuring tape thingy majig. & why does it symbol longacres?

Because its to help measure out the striding between lines. So you can get an exact 12 feet for each (canter) stride, [and an extra 12 considering take off and landing.]  Its a sign of longacres attention to detail and correct lines and such. I was definatly going to send this answer in last night... but then i had to go somewhere with regan. So, i didnt' write this until now.

am i right? or have i gone crazy.

Hi Tom and Meghan!

I know I just sent you an email, an so now you are going to be bombarded by emails from me... well, actually just two in the last minute.  Anyway, I wanted to send David L. an email, but I couldn't find it on the website... I had it the other day, but the link didn't work.  Would you mind giving me his email address?

HELLO FELLOW TOM AND MEGHAN!

Em (Emz, Emily, Take home spazz deloris, Emsicle, Scout-lover, Tree-hugger....) is very saddeded (Emism!) because the meet the horses page died. WHERE'D IT GO? I would love very much to see the horses I might be riding in the upcoming summer, and I was just wondering. I'm not trying to be pushy or anything, but I was just curious, when is it planning to go up?

Why the item is important to and symbolic of what makes Longacres special

Okay where should I start.  Well, first of all this a device used to measure distance between jumps.  It's very useful in determining the number of strides.  At most places they use it sparringly at big horseshows.  Not at Longacres.  At any show if a line was said to be so long you can guess that it will be pretty close if not exact.  But longacres will use it for some lessons if were working on striding.

My English is kinda bad haha midterms last week killed my brain!!!  But I'm going over to the barn to ride soon so it will be all better.  More later! - Alexa

Hey Tom and Meghan,

Just saw the "What and "Why" picture! Every girl that has spent more

than a day at Longacres should be able to write that paragraph! I will

be disappointed if they cant!! It will be interesting to see what you

guys get for responses.

I will say that I really like the looks of the new measuring tape. I

am sure I will use that once or twice in my stay this summer, making

sure the lines are measured to the exact inch for shows!

Hope you are having fun with your snowmobiling (even though I know you

are...especially Meghan!!)

Mandy

Hi this is Emily Weir, I attended camp last summer

I think the picture is of one of two things

0.      a measuring tape to measure the horses

a measuring tape to measure the strides in the lines

i'm surprised that wasnt under the christmas tree this year. i have no

idea what the formal name for it is however it is the tool used to

meaure lines in a course so that the distances are exactly

how tom wants them to be. i cant really spend time impressing you with

my knowledge because this weekend i am studying for midterms. one of

which we have to know everything that we have learned/

talked about since the first day of school, every handout, author,

publication date... basically i am screwd (my favorite word right now

because i am no longer able to use the words pissed off which

is the best expresion of how people usually feel because no i am not

angry nor mad nor incredibly angry but i am p.o'd is usually how people

are feeling when stressed over midterms) so i guess i

should start studying. the kung fu kicking schitzophrenic pony from

hell is doing amazing and i love her dearly i might have to steal her away

from you cause shes just so good. Quantum is doing good

as well he is a lot less stiff than he was a couple weeks ago. we also

just had someone leave our barn and we heard that he is looking to sell

his horse who has a lot of scope but isnt that well

trained. he bought him for i believe 1,000 but i dont know how much he

is asking for him now. i thought of you guys when i heard this so i

thought i would pass it along. now im really going to study

keep the updates coming!

-    Robyn

haha

i didnt see meghan last night but my mom was laughing when i read her the update!! She said she saw someone who looked like meghan---but she thought "oh, it couldnt be her!!!!!!!" haha

Meghan my mom wants to know if u were sitting at a table for 2 along the wall with a hat on?? Mrs. Avino spotted her first tho!! haha

anyway i only have 10 minutes so i gotta send my library fast. (By the way i am SO NOT HAPPY about the SEMI ness-ism-week!!) I find out how i really rank now, don't i?? haha!!

just kidding haha!

But i am VERY PLEASED to see that other fellow LA readers appreciate my humor. (and SANENESS!) [not insaneness!] haha
